My plan isn't to start a work in progress, but because I've been away from the computer for a while I figured I'd at least let people know I'm still alive. I've been starting a lot of things lately.. just not finishing!
But here is a sort of kwaiken I made for a member here from my home-made orishigane steel (from wrought iron nails). It has a lacewood frame handle, mammoth ivory spacer and ebony scales featuring saw marks.

And here are a couple in the works... The longer blade is a Yataghan inspired sword that will be a cutting machine. I've been commissioned to make a sword for a contestant in an upcoming Battle of the Nations.. an international full contact sword fighting competition. So I'm making this blade (which will be somewhat similar to the Mongol sabre I will be making) for heavy testing and practice for the actual competition blade. I will put a temporary hilt on it and finish it after I've had fun with it. My plan for finishing is to give it a smoking hamon and ebony handle.
The smaller blade in the first picture will be my second rondel dagger. This one will be more like many of the originals in that it will have a thick triangular cross-section. These were knightly side arms and were often intended to pierce armor. It will be fitted with wrought iron disk guard and pommel, ebony grip and some twisted wire.
Anyway... I will post pictures when they are done!
