Some recently made Straight razors

Hello,

i would like to show you some Razors i made in the last time. Some of them were custom orders, others are free pieces.

Number one:

7/8 wedge Sanmaiblade with filework. The scales are made of Kamelbone. i made it for a customer.

Number two:

8/8 wedge Blade. The scales are made of cocobolo. The wedge is made of a brass rod, turned to an hourglass shape. Pins are Brass and Silver. This is a prototype. I am going to let dropforge such Blades in Solingen Germany in higher quantity.

Number three:

7/8 wedge Blade, made of a selfcasted steel. 1,25%C 1,4%Cr 1,2%Mn 0,8%W 0,2%Ta 0,15%V The handle ist made of grenadill.

Great selection of some great looking work....thank you for the pictures. :)
 
It stands for how broad the blades are. 8/8 ist one inch. 7/8 is 7 of 8 parts of an inch and so on....

@DesRosiers: Thank you. Making own Steel is indeed not quite easy. The hard task is not to melt or cast, but to get a good homogeneity, fine Carbides and a good grain size. Also is the forging a long procedur... I remember, that you wrote in another thread, that you always wanted to try making your own steel. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
