anybody understand what is going on around 13:50 when they are drilling holes in the bottom and driving pegs/dowels into those holes?

EDIT: nevermind. I watched the next 20 seconds and figured it out. tip: always watch all the way through before posting dumb questions!

EDIT II: those sideways adzes are really cool. never seen that before.

Both were great to watch, thanks for showing! Such an amazing traditional way to build and cure. The smoothing was particularly interesting.
 
I wonder what those dished out boards are for.

At first I thought he was just making a simple lap joint, like you would find on siding. My best guess is that it is siding, maybe butted instead of lapped?
I could be wrong.
I hope a interpreter shows up and can help use out.
