As many of you know Margaret Moran has been very ill.
I heard from Jerry F. this morning that she passed away last night.

As Jerry noted, this is a sad day. Considering how close Bill and Margaret are, our heats and sympathy go out to Bill with hopes that he will find comfort. He is blessed with a wonderful woman in his life. May he be blessed with wonderful memories of Margaret.

Bill said if any one wanted to give a memorial please give it to the ABS endowment fund in Margaret's name.

The last two times that I am aware of when she was with Bill at a knife gathering (Bill's last hammer-in in Texarcana and the Blade Show) she spoke of her family. Her family as she claimed them were makers and collectors. When she spoke of her family, it was obvious those words rang true to her and came from her heart. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in many of our hearts.

"A sad day indeed".

Margaret and Bill.

My deepest sympathies to Mr. Moran and family. May they find comfort in this time of sorrow.

I happened to have the good fortune to be able to help celebrate Margarets birthday this year. We all went down to a Pizza joint in Hope, Arkansas to celebrate it one day after class. She was so tickled with the whole thing. And so was Bill. Jim Crowell was hamming it up a bit too. The whole class was there if I remember right. It was Bill's last damascus class and it sure was a good one. I took several pictures while I was there and happened to find this one taken at the pizza joint. Margaret was a fine lady and everybodies friend. You just couldn't help but love her.

This is heartbreaking news. I was hoping and praying that she would get better. My heart goes out to Bill. This is going to be a very sad time for him. How do you get over losing someone like that. Keep Bill in your prayers.

There is another star in the heavens tonight.

I got the news this morning from Don Fogg. It is a very sad time indeed. Everyone who has known Bill and Margaret, love them just like family. Margaret did in fact once mention that she and Bill felt like we (the makers and collectors) were their children.

My heart aches. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with Bill for strength in this painful situation.

Sorry to hear the news. Sincerest condolences to Bill and his family. I didn't know the Morans personally, though I did meet Bill at a couple of knife shows. They are "family" to anyone who collects knives. :(

I got to meet Bill and Margaret at this years Blade show. I have one of the the little Moran bowie pins that I bought from her. She will be greatly missed. :(

While I did not have the opportunity to meet this wonderful Woman, I have heard much of her devotion to Bill and the world of knives. This IS a VERY SAD day indeed. My PRAYERS are with Bill.....Ira

My deepest condolences to Mr Moran. Prayers are with him in hour of sorrow.

When I went to my first Blade show I was spooked, my heart was in my mouth. Magraret knew how I felt, she greeted me like I was her son. Put her arm around me and Walked me to my table. speaking encouraging thoughts. I knew I was welcome and that all would be OK. All citizens of the knife world were her family and she did all she could to promote the family spirit. She knew no jealously, I cannot remember a negative thought from her. Without her I seriously doubt that the ABS would have happened, for she encourged Bill to their greatness and was right there with him.

By accident, two weeks ago I picked up a book I had not touched for years. Inside was a letter from Margaret. Her words again filled me with love and inspiration. She has gone to a fine place, her legacy to us is to make the world of knives better for all.

We will all be togehter again one day.

I have always said "Thank you Lord" when I have been blessed. I say "Thank you Lord" for having been able to call her My Friend.
