I see some resemblence to the SQ series Silhouettes, and one looks a bit like the Badger that was made in Ireland. Pretty neat drawings there. I would have loved to see what some of the finished products looked like if they had stayed in business.
Thank you Eric for starting this topic and thanks Larry for sending me the link.
I almost stopped collecting Pre. 2000 Schrade knives when the factory closed down and went out of my way collecting anything Schrade sold or made after 2000. I started my collection before these inexpensive knives became very hard to find.
As for the SQ111 Black Ice, I have never seen one and I believe they did not make it to the retailers.
Eric, could you please tell me when the Schrade factory closed down in Ireland and do you know anything about Schrade starting to have the Badgers made in China.
I have an SX4 Badger with a polished blade made in Ireland.
An SX4B (black blade and clip) Badger made in Ireland.
An SX4S (satin serrated blade and clip) Badger made in Ireland.
And a 2004 SX4 with polished blade and Schrade 100thAnniversary etch; made in China.
The 2004 Schrade Badger made in China, is well made and I believe Schrade must have been thinking about having more of their knives made in China before they closed down. One thing is certain, the Schrade Badger I have is a much better knife than the Taylor rubbish.
The Black Ice SQ111 was a Viper; I have the SQ222 and SQ224 Vipers and those drawings look like the Vipers, Nitros and Silhouettes; I have all of the Q3 knives except the SQ111. Ken
