Well the title says it all. They ripped out the subwoofer in the back of my xterra and stole of all things my gen1 spyderco delica. Not a super expensive knife but it was my first "good" modern knife. I've had it for 17yrs or so.

Just pisses me off. The good news is they left my GPS laying in the front seat and didn't destroy the car. They must have been scared off pretty quick by either the outside motion lights coming on or a car passing. It sounds like they hit a bunch of cars last night in our general vicinity.

All things told it could have been much, much worse.

Not looking for anything from you guys but a place to vent.

Sorry to hear about that. Seems that these break-ins are becoming more and more frequent around my neck of the woods as well. Desperate people do desperate things, and stupid kids will also do stupid things. Insurance gonna help out on this for you?

That's a shame bro. Vandals and thieves are just plain unacceptable. I hope they find the people doing this.

God bless,
Adam

Thanks. It was most likely kids. As I was talking to the LEO taking the report he said he'd been out all morning in my area dealing with others in the same boat. They took weird stuff so he's thinking it was kids. For instance they got into the truck of a guy up the hill and took a box of shotgun shells but left a very expensive set of binoculars in the front seat after taking them out of the case.

In my car they took a subwoofer in a homemade box and an old pocketknife but left a much more expensive GPS after pulling it out of the middle console.

I'm not turning it into the insurance. Apparently I had left my back hatch open so they crawled through without breaking any windows or damaging the car in any way. They stole maybe $300 worth of stuff. That doesn't even add up to my deductible.

I'll head down through the pawn shops in a day or two but not expecting to find any of my stuff.

Strange hauls from those delinquents for sure. Good luck on cruising the pawn shops, but don't you have to be 18 to at least legally pawn anything? Any markings on the Delica to denote it's yours (great little blade, BTW)?

Had my car ripped off once- I'll never forget the feeling I had afterwards. Sorry man- hopefully they get caught!!

Yes you do have to be 18 but kids have older friends. I've seen it happen before. I doubt any of it will end up in a pawn shop because resale value would be extremely low on those items.

That's an interesting question about the delica. Nothing that is exclusively unique to it other than you don't see many around anymore. Pawn shops here would probably not even buy it and if they did would probably sell it for a few bucks. If I find it I'd probably buy it back from them just for sentimental reasons.

UGH!!! I know how you feel bro! I had my truck broken into a long time ago and they stole my stereo and about 100 CD's. I couldn't believe it though, my insurance company replaced the stereo and all of my CD's. But it still didn't make me feel any better, I just wanted those bastards caught!

I'm sorry to hear what happened TLR. My house has been burglarized twice and the same people tried it a third time. Each time, they knew when we were about to go on vacation and which specific spots to hit for electronics, cash etc.

Turns out it was one of my closest childhood friend, his brother and two sisters. I got a call when I was at school to come into the office and saw my friend in the back of a police car. Turns out the neighbor saw them trying to break in again through my window and gave the description to the cops and they tracked them to my school. Worst part is his father was a corrections officer and little to nothing was returned. They all got records for it, but yeah....

Shitty things happen, but I really feel that karma is a real pain. Keep your head up high and use this as a good reminder to make sure your stuff is always locked up.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can find that Delica again. It may not be a fancy knife, but anything that's served me well for nearly 2 decades does certainly hold some sentimental value too. I'm with everyone else in the thread, I hope those little shit-asses get caught, and if they don't, here's to karma being a real bitch to them.

check your local craigslist just incase they are dumb enough to list it. dont be shocked if it is on there. some kids are not very smart, after all they took what kids want. not much of the valuable stuff they could have.

Happened to me back when i was in high school. I had a soft top jeep, they slashed the back window to get in. they trashed my head unit because they couldn't figure out how to get it out. gotta love criminals. that really sucks about the delica.

I was on vacation a couple years back in the cedar point area - I take along my XD pistol so I can shoot at the new pistol facility at camp perry while I'm there. Since I'm not licensed to carry in ohio, I couldnt actually carry it on me. Since signs have legal weight in ohio (my home state doesnt) I couldnt take it (legally) in the building either.

We got to the hotel around midnight and were exhausted. We checked in and basically went right to bed.

Found that someone slashed all 4 of my tires, dented my door in, busted into the car - pried open my locked glovebox - stole my pistol, my daughter's nintendo DS, our family camera/camcorder and the videos/images on memory cards with them. All my CDs on the visor and my GPS.

Totally sucked. Didn't have renters insurance at the time.

Moral of the story. .....I'll kill whoever did it if I find them and Sandusky police are blind (they camped out in the parking lot the next night - 6 cars got hit the night they camped out and they didn't notice a single thing).

Oh and the video cameras for the resort hotel happened to magically be off that night.

I always had the impression it was an employee that did it.

the same thing happened to me over Christmas time. 2 guys spent the night cleaning out all the cars they could get into and steeling anything they thought was worth anything.

i drive a jeep so i don't even bother locking the doors (soft top in the summer) so a unlocked door might prevent the douchebags from cutting the top up. they made off with a fist full of change from the cup holder (it really adds up fast with loonies and toonies) a couple pares of sunglasses, not really worth anything but they where prescription. just a pain in the ass. they didn't find my GPS thankfully since it was tucked away in the back(lots of wheeling trails on there)

to top it off they took my ownership and insurance papers. can't for the life of me figure out why

Keep an eye on craigslist for your stuff... Also if you have a local pawn shop you might want to take a trip down there and let them know what was taken.

Wow, sorry about your stuff TLR, and good luck on getting it back. I have been real lucky in the past in urban areas to say the least.

Different here in the backwoods now. I think the latest theft around here was a guy left his keys in his car at a laundromat -- then a homeless guy just hanging out for that very opportunity stole it for a while to get thrown back in jail for 3 hots and a cot. Now at the local diner everyone asks the guy whose car was stolen "want me to warm yer car up for ya?"

That's so unfortunate. Hope it is just a one time occurrence and that you can recover your lost items. I hate people that steal it just rubs me the wrong way.

That sucks, I've been there a few times. Reminds me of Pulp Fiction, Vincent" Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that a-hole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.". :thumbdn:
