I have a few questions about the available scale finishes and blade finishes available on the Sebenza. From what I can glean from CRK's website, if you get an inlay, the ti scales will be polished (with the exception of the black micarta inlay). But it appears that the lockbar and pocket clip are still bead-blasted. Similarly, if you choose a graphic pattern for the scales, they are applied to polished scales, again with a bead-blasted lockbar and clip. Is this accurate?

As for the blade finish, the stonewash is only available on the standard Sebenza and the black micarta inlay version, and everything else gets a polished blade?

I haven't found an online supplier with a good selection of CRK's, and the ones that do don't seem to charge much less than CRK, so when you guys buy new Sebenza's do you generally order them direct? Thanks for any help.

I currently have a large sebenza with inlay and a large sebenza cgg - so this info is based on my two knives.

1) Inlaid Sebenza - everything is polished except for the lock bar up to the cutout, the scale edges, the inside of the scales, inside of the letters "Idaho Made", and the pocket clip. It appears the micarta inlay model is totally bead blasted from pics I have seen.

2) Graphic Sebenza - front scale is polished, back scale and lock bar is bead blasted, pocket clip is bead blasted. Edges and inside of scales are bead blasted.

3) Blade finishes - I believe your assessment is correct, however I have seen a plain jane Sebenza with a polished blade - so CRK must entertain that as an option.

4) CRK sets the price for all of their products and you will not find any of the authorized distributors sell for less. I personally buy my CRKs from the local knife store which is an authorized distributor. I have never ordered directly from CRK as I am impatient and cannot wait - I just keep in touch with the local distributor and see what he has in stock.

Of course - don't forget the damascus blade option(s) also. There are also limited editions that are put out every year - I'm not sure what the finish options are for those.

Thanks for the help. Would you mind posting some pictures of your Sebenza's showing a couple different angles? What knife shop do you use in Maryland? Thanks again.

Will try to post pics tomorrow.

I Shop at Edgeworks in Frederick.

Thats where my CRKs (small seb 21 and an umnum) came from as well.

I'm going to stop in thursday to check out some of the new ones, but with a vacation coming up next week I can't afford to get another =(

Sean at Edgeworks is good people.
Any shop owner that will let a guy he's never seen before sit and handle $300+ knives for over an hour before he has any idea if the person plans to buy or not gets points in my book.

I eventually decided in the small, but couldn't forget about that Umnum so went back a week later lol
Going to pick up a large with inlays at some point soon. Maybe a Mnandi...I'm hooked now

This may have changed since I bought my knife, but at the time you could order a stonewashed blade on a wood inlay. I think the way you described the finishes is their standard way of doing it, but if you wanted something in particular and are willing to order it from them, it is best to just call up and ask.

A few pics

The back of the Seagrass is bead blasted. The back of the inlay is polished except for the lock bar.

The pics don't do this justice - I really like the contrast on the inlay model.

Did you buy that Inlaid one within the last month or so? If so I've probably handled and thought about buying that exact same one

It's probably a little more than one week old - but I bought it from a local knife store - not an e-retalier.

From Edgeworks like you said above? =P
Yeah I handled that one then.

You should be glad I decided on the Umnum go with my small 21 instead! haha
