Which design do you guys like most, Classic or Regular? Also, would it work to sharpen a sebenza with a sharpmaker 204? Where is the best place to get a small sebenza for the best price and good
service? I'm thinking about getting a small sebenza, no wood inlays or anything, just a titanium handled one. Can you send it to Chris to have him sharpen it free?

P.S. Is it possiple to get one for under $300.00

Thanks:)

I prefer the regular Sebenza over the classic, but you can't be wrong either way. My SM 204 gets the blade scary sharp. Most dealers charge the same price, but if you are a regular customer ;) you should be able to get a discount. If you are looking for a good buy check the sale forums. CRK will sharpen the knife for you....but why?

I would usually sharpen it myself, but there are certain occasions when I would want to send it to him to have a profesional do it:)

I have both styles in the small and a classic in the large, I like both equally well. Although the Standard seems to be slightly more ergonomic, the classic feels like it grips a little better for harder cutting.

I really don't see how you could make a bad choice other than not to buy one (yeah right, no one buys just one :))

I know a local dealer who has usually got some great prices if you drop me a note I'll give you his e-mail address.

I recently picked up 2 smalls from a dealer closing out his inventory for a great price. You need to just keep your eye peeled.

The sharpmaker is actually what CRK reccomends using to sharpen their knives.

Not only will CRK sharpen them but they will completely refurbish one to like new condition for about $25. You can't beat it!

I have a couple of smalls at their shop right now being serviced and Bridget has bent over backwards to take care of me.

A+ company to deal with.

If I don't buy it from the CRK website, will I still get the wrench thing or whatever that you use to take it apart with?

Jefroman, I recently sold a small sebenza for $210 used, so definately watch the forsale forum. When you buy from a dealer they will have the box and the wrench. A private party may or may not have those things.

I believe an appropriate wrench can be found in hardware stores.

CRK will also sell you the wrench for about $2 I think.

For some reason I have always found that their allen keys fit the hardware better than anything I own from the hardware stores. Not sure why...

I bought a large standard Sebenza in almost mint condition in early June. I paid under $250 for it. It had 2 tiny little scratches that you could find if you looked pretty hard. I don't believe the blade had been sharpened, nor used much, if any.

Mine came with the box and birth certificate. I mentioned here on the forum that it came without a wrench and Anne sent me a wrench free of charge. Of course, can't promise that for anyone, and I didn't ask, but it sure as hell impressed me with their customer service!

From what I've read, and from a tiny bit of experience, BG-42 holds an edge pretty well. If one did not let the blade get truly dull, I believe the Sharpmaker would be fine for maintaining the edge. Have read many times that that is what the Sharpmaker excells at.

It seems to be about 50/50 of each in classic or regular as far as prefernce goes.....Some guys like the deeper finger groove in the classic. The Sharpmaker 204 does do a very good job on the Sebbies.
