You probably don't want to hear it but WHY?

>40 years ago I had a HS FliteKing I bought new for $62.50, cut the barrel to 18", installed a front ramp and Williams FoolProof receiver sight...able to shoot minute of paper plate at 100 yards with the slugs that were available then. It had a trigger like a fine rifle..nothing I did, just was. Killed OH deer with it for a few years and later gave to a OH friend.

The sights were to enable me to shoot slugs with good enough accuracy for the hunting I did and I was happy.

Conventional wisdom is that shotgun pistol grips can make for awkward fast handling and the temptation to tyry and shoot it like a rifle- cheek weld and all. In the olden days a TN LE agency whiz-bang ordered up for that agency- uniformly hated by the road cops.

Doubt you'll find any FliteKing specific after market stuff for your family heirloom. Just for grins try the trigger, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Best.

Remington parts are not interchangeable with your Hi-Standard.
Rather than try to mess with it (no aftermarket parts or accessory support to speak of), best bet is to just buy a Remington.
If you do, best to also jettison the idea of a pistol-grip-ONLY "stock". Awkward, you lose slug accuracy, can't aim & shoot effectively or quickly, much more difficult to control recoil.
A full-length stock WITH a pistolgrip as part of it, allowing the gun to rest against the shoulder when firing, is a different matter.
You can add rifle sights to your gun, but that's about it.

The old Flite Kings are long out of production & there's no market to impel anybody to make custom parts & accessories for them.

My home defense shotgun is a Rem 870 with a folding Knoxx Copstock. It still works great but it is extremely hard to do "combat reloads" due to the lack of stock. If you are absolutely going to get a pistol grip, make sure you get an overfolding stock so you don't lose out on the benefit of having a long gun.

I also recommend just buying another shotgun rather than taking that one down. You could probably fit a lot of aftermarket parts on it, but it would require a dremel and some work.

I would bet that in the long run, it would be cheaper to buy another shotgun rather than try to retrofit yours, which doesn't have the availability most likely of a lot of cheap accessories. Also, that way you get to have another shotgun!

I have a High Standard riot gun with the 18" barrel and rifle sights. Hands down the slickest and most accurate shotgun I've ever owned and I've run the gamut from Remington, Browning, Mossberg, etc. IIRC I heard a few years back on another forum that someone had modified a Mossberg stock to work on their HS, can't recall the model though. But I would take the route the others brought up, buy a different shotgun to mod and leave the legacy of your father's shotgun as is. You can pick up a beater police trade in 870 for around $100 if you hunt and just go wild with it. I've done a few and always turned out with a decent gun.

A Philippine company by the name of Rock Island Armory, makes a copy of this shotgun called the M5. I've found quite a few people have a favorable view of it. Still you can find the used High Standards priced inexpensive, so I suppose some would find it pointless to buy the M5 copy. Still interesting nonetheless.
