This is true not only of people but also of dogs as I found out today !

The tranquility of the swamp was suddenly disturbed by a splashing sound which was immediately noticed by the tiny terror !

Beautiful scene.

Stoopid mallards around here walk right up to us begging for bread crumbs. Worse, I have to remind people not to feed them. Ducks, geese, swans, all come up on shore to beg.

the trees below
the lake before them all

ignore the cars on roads just out of sight
and all this looks like earth before the fall

with grace the waterbirds arrive as fleets of them deploy to feed
ducks dabble as swans cruise by and geese glide beside every reed
