Well guys, I'm heading out tonight around 6pm for a camping trip up Maple Canyon in Central Utah. It's acrost the valley from where I grew up so it's pretty much my back yard. I mention this because I'm hauling along some SOG knives:

SK5 Tigershark
Mini Pentagon
SEAL Revolver
Tsunami
PowerLock

Am bringing all of those because I just couldn't deside which ones I'd use more, so I figured to safe I'd bring all of them. Mind you I have 14 SOG's so it did take a while to narrow it down to these 5. lol.

While down at Maple Canyon I'll be making some Dutch Oven cobbler and I'll use the PowerLock to open the cans of Fruit. Am cooking some Dutch Oven chicken stew right now to take with me in the cooler. Am using the Revolver to cut up veggies. :) BTW I'm going down with a church group from Colorado, there are here for the summer for a leadership training. The group loves to camp and other outdoor rec things which is rather cool. I can't wait. Will be coming back tomorrow evening. Have a great weekend!!

Thanks guys!! We got back about 30 minutes ago. It was a lot of fun. We didn't get to camp till after 10:30pm. Was in bed about 1:57am. Cooked the cobbler after breakfast and had most of it with lunch. The left overs went to a friends apartment to be finished off.

The Revolver was used for cutting roasting sticks, same with the X-42 Autoclip I brought along at the last minute. One of the girls had a blister, we used the AL on the PowerLock to pop it for draining and we also used other tools on it for various things around camp. Everyone liked the Tigershark, it didn't get used, but I did sleep with it next to me just incase something besides us went bump in the night. ;) For lunch I made a Peanut butter sandwich and spead the peanut butter with the Tsunami. That blade was on me the whole time we were hiking and clinging today.

Maple canyon is a network of slot canyons with plenty of places to do Rock Climbing and it's rather populare. Most of the group climbed today. We spent 5 hours at one place. Only had enough equipment for one person to go up at a time. I didn't do it, but those that did rather enjoyed them selves. I grew up in the area around Maple canyon and know the place well enough. When I wasn't at that climbing wall talking with the other people in our group I was hiking some of the trails I did back in college and when I was a scout. A few of us had cameras and we took plenty of pictures. I'll see about rounding up some of them and getting them posted sometime in the near future. Hope you all had a good weekend using your knives and hanging out doing fun things. We sure did!

Well guys, I've finally gotten around to downloading the pictures off my camera and resizing them for BFC. I'm not in any of these because I was the one taking them. Will try to get some with me in them to post later. But for now, here are some of the Pictures up Maple Canyon that I took:

Here is the group picture taken right before we headed home Sunday afternoon.

Well, thats all the pictures for now. Sorry, no knife pics or pics of me right now. As I said ealier, I might get some pics of me, might not. Didn't get any knife pics though. Maybe next trip. As an FYI, Maple Canyon in Central Utah is a network of slot canyons with amazing rock formations. It is home to a beatifull arch and some caves. The rock formations there look nothing like the rest of the mountains in the valley around it. Enjoy the pictures!

Hey Wildman, that's not too far from my neck of the woods. How about some pics?

You ever been to Maple Canyon? I've been sledding out of SLC but never hiking. You guys got any good trails up there?

Hope you liked the pictures. I plan on camping again soon. Probably up in the Manti-Lasal forest Sanpete district above Spring City with in the next few weeks. Going to take the SOG Revolver with me and put it to good use.

Nope, I've never been down to Maple Canyon. In my opinion, we have some excellent hiking trails around the area up here, particularly because there are so many canyons that are just a relatively short drive from the Salt Lake Valley. It would be good for me to take advantage of them more often. :(

I know what you mean. I know tons of places in Sanpete county cause I'm from there. But I've been here almost 5 years and only know 4 hikes here. Maple Canyon is great, if you ever get the chance to hike or climb it, do so. And remember to bring some SOGs. ;)

That's beautiful country, Ialways deliberate as well on which knife to take along I can spend hours weighing the pro's and' con's of each knife. It's like you want to have the perfect blade for any possible situation , so you just grab one and head out the door before you change your mind lol!
