It was "Shock & Awe" in Solvang. The Who's Who were there.
Art to tactical, it had everything! A great show put on by Nordic Knives. I took some pics, but I wish had taken a ton more now.
I ran into "Sartec" (John) and "Pontiaker" Matt roaming the isles.
Matt showed me some of his new folders. Wow! Great stuff! Great grinds and solid work! I took a pic of him and his 5" S30V "Banshee"
monster framelock! I'll see how many pics I can cram in this post.

Fantastic! Thanks for the pics.

Did Phil Hartsfield have a table? If so, did he have lots of knives on display? If anyone has a pic of the Hartsfields present, it would be appreciated.

Yes, Phill was there. He had about a dozen pieces as I recall. When the doors opened, one guy raced to his table and bought out all of his neckers! Several makers only brought a handfull of pieces, and sold out within 30 minutes of the doors opening at 11 am on Friday.

I found a few more pics. Unfortunately, none of Phill.

why am i always out of town when all the good knife shows roll through town. dang education. ohh well thanks for the pic looks like an awesome show wish i could go.

But they don't even come close to doing all those knives justice! That show is full of unbelievable work. I was there Saturday and it was all I could do to not drool on the tables. I can't believe that you took a pic of the $30.00 replica at Buster Warenski's table and didn't shoot one of his real knives(the replica was solid bronze, not gold).

Phil Boguszewski had some cool folders with the best flipper action I've ever seen. Did you check out the lock mechanizm on Mr. Bennica's knives? Truly unique in my experiance. What about Joe Kious' and John W. Smith's art folders? AWESOME!

I've only been to a few shows, but the Solvang show stands out in my mind because of the concentration of top shelf makers, undiluted by vendor tables and factory booths. Nothing but customs!(and Chris Reeve of course).

Did you guys bring home anything cool? I got a unique decorated small Sebenza with a Blue Agate inlaid in the handle. I think Chris's knives were about the cheapest stuff in the place.

Too many beautiful knives and not enought cash, ah, well....

Jmxcpter,
You're right on the money. The pics just can't capture the wow factor of seeing these babies in person. There were incredible pieces. It was difficult to get pics at times, with people walking in front of me. Next time I'll just trip 'em!

The pic of the Tut replica I posted is not the one on Buster's table, but the one in the display case by Frank's table in the far left corner. It's 32 oz of solid gold. I know the one you are talking about that was on the table. I had a pic of his folder, and his art dagger, but it got inadvertantly deleted. My fingers must have slipped in the drool on the camera.

Here is a pic of a gent's liner lock folder I got from Tim Hancock at the show:

That's a pretty sweet looking knife you got there. I almost got an original Gil Hibben folder with real Ivory scales and a naked zebra striped woman on it, but it got bought out from under me while I had some lunch so I had to console myself with a lil Sebbie to replace the one I lost a few months ago.

Both my friend and I spaced out in the excitement and forgot our cameras at home! Doh!

Thanks for bringing yours.

You are all welcome for the pics. It really was fun.
I'll do a better job next year. Maybe even get some of the makers
with thier knives in the same shot! What a novel idea!

Stumpy - Yeah I was real happy to get one of Hancock's folders.
He only had three knives to start with, and two were sold in 5 minutes of the doors opening!

Hey Tom, I did have a hat!..For the price I put out for Tim's folder, he gave me an identical hat as his!:D :p
Those Master Smiths just go that extra mile for thier customers! :D :p
