Some sort of campfire kettle

So I just got back from a winter trip yesterday and yes it was a blast but it was also brutally cold.
So one of the guys at the base camp had this kettle, he identified it as his great grandfather's who was an old railway worker.
To better describe the kettle (if this is even the correct term) it looks like a large teapot. Its about 10 inches across and maybe a foot and change high. It looks like it would hold about a gallon and a half, maybe two. The top if the kettle just has a 2-3 inch across opening with a cap and then there's a small hole on the side that they said used to have a spout, now its just an opening you could.plug with wine cork if needed.
I regretfully do not have any pics to help identify but if anyone here has an inkling as to what this thing is called or where I could find an original or a remake I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks

It looks very similar to the Kelly kettle, minus the hole running through the center for fire.
I've searched high and low on the internets and have had no luck.
