Lately I’ve been pretty busy with work, but I have taken a few random pics while I have been out working. I thought I’d share the ones from the last outing just for a little color.

The blooms are popping out.

Great pictures, as usual, mistwalker. Thanks for sharing. I especially like Dragonflies. Who can not like something that eats mosquitoes?

BTW, I really think you need to try an Izula-II. :D

Doc

Nice pics. Those are grapes of some kind. Is the pic of the trunk a Dawn Redwood?

I know the ones with the green stems are grapes, I ate some off that same vine last year, but not sure about those with the red stems. I think those are some type of cypress trees.

Thanks Doc, I have a 'thing" for dragon flies and I like photographing them.

Yeah, I have been thinking about it and holding out for an Izula III...one with a bit longer blade too :)

Good stuff mist. Looks like spring has transitioned into summer for you!

Thanks Ken, almost but not quite...I wasn't even sweating yet. You'll know when summer is here because there will be drops of sweat on everything I stand over to photo...and of course there will be my usual b!#ching and griping about the heat :)

I missed your pics bro!

Any luck with that TTF?

The antler socket you sent me has been working great!

Great looking pics mistwalker. So crisp and clear, that is really neat. You have a great eye for details.

Great pics Mist. Man, hard to believe it isn't that hot there yet. When I was down there back in early April I was sweating everyday. You must be much more used to it than I am down there.

Thanks bro, it’s nice to know somebody misses me :)

I think I am missing a step or something. It will coal when hit by a flame…coals well and even helps run off the mosquitoes..

But I have gone thrown enough sparks to light a hundred pieces of char cloth and no luck getting the fungus to take a spark. I may have been mistaken, but I thought tinder fungus was a little softer inside than this is and would fuzz up to catch sparks. In any case I am still playing with it as time permits…all studies are good studies, right?

I am really glad you like the antler divot, it’s a lot lighter than that old RC-5 isn’t it :D . Glad to see you've been putting it to good use

Thanks TG, glad you liked them.

Well, I am acclimated to this environment, but we also had a heat wave pass through the area back then. Lately it has been cooler and a little more spring-like, but that will soon change.

Great pics Mist, everything looks so vibrant!

Thanks T, yeah, that’s one cool thing about living in a temperate rain forest, lots of color and lots of life in the warm months.

That's the best TTF I could find but you are right, it is kind of hard and is not the best specimen. Try ruffing it up on a rock or some sand paper to make it more porous.

Oh, and I missed your pics not you :p ;)

Thanks for the input, I was thinking a rock might fuzz it up better than a knife edge.

That's mostly one and the same thing isn't it?

Great pics as usual! Thanks for sharing. What other kit did you bring? And does anyone know what knife Tony is showing in his pic?

Great pics Mist.....That grape like plant is throwin me for a loop. Let me know what you find out cause Im callin it a grape. It doesnt look like any of the common lookalikes in my books. I thought at first elderberry, but no. Maybe peppervine? Im scratchin my head. lol

I had quite a bit of "stuff" with me in a pack hanging where I was actually working. When out just walking around and taking a break I just had a nano on my key-chain, a water bottle, a folding knife in my pocket, the knife i was testing on my belt, and a camera.

Thanks Jake. Yeah me too, I see them every year but have no idea what they are. I am going back in a couple of days to take more pics and create a progression of photos for my wild plants files.

Amazing spring pics you've shown, mistwalker. Thanks for sharing.

The bubble on a pine tree twig looks like eggs of frog to me.
We have a frog lays egg like that, just above some water (pond or puddle).
The tadpoles just drop to the water from the bubble nest.

Thnak you Fujita, glad you've enjoyed them.

That could be, but if so most of the tadpoles will have a rough 2 or 3 meter journey to the water there.
