Some Strider Knives questions

Hey all,
I was just reading another post and someone mentioned that Striders are production knives. What makes them production knives? I guess I thought they were all customs. So what would that make a Nightmare Ground Strider? A custom production knife?

Also, you always hear about how good the Strider warranty is. Is it written down somewhere? I've been all over their site but never found anything about warranty issues. (Sadly enough it seems that not too many custom makers do put a written warranty on thier site even if they have one of the best around)

FYI. I've had warranty work done on a SnG and they ended up doing me right and swapping it out for a brand new one that was hand picked by Josh. That is definately above and beyond which is cool and the reason I bought 2 more Striders. (So far I have 2 SnGs, 1 tanto and 1 spearpoint and a TAD AR that is utterly awesome.)

Just wondering,

Oily

they are a production company that occasionally makes some limited editions and some custom stuff...

Hmmm...I thought they were a Custom company that produced only a limited number of " One Off" knives by either Mick or Duane. Whatever they are, they make some of the BEST Hardcore using knives available today! I have and SMF and a GB currently, and have my eye on a cool AR on eBay right now! I would also like to find a Gen 6 SnG, slightly used, at a reasonable price.

Between Striders and Sebenzas, I know I will have the right blade with me for whatever comes along. And I have never had experience with Strider's Warranty, but I have NEVER heard anyone say anything bad about it. Usually nothing but Rave reviews!

The warranty is on this page in the yellow box overlaying the photo in the main frame. I've read of Strider using an "idiot mark" to identify warranty replacements for knives that were abused to death, so that if the replacement knife were destroyed the Strider guys would know and could refuse another free warranty knife. So if you, say, repeatedly drove over your MT-L with a Cat D9 and then blew it up with TNT just to see what would happen, you'd get a warranty replacement, but if you broke the replacement you'd have to buy another Strider. This post has information on this practice (almost all of the rest of this thread is off-topic).

All this info I gathered from reading and searching- I don't yet own a Strider and have never had a warranty issue with the company.

I think of Strider as a semi-production company, FWIW. Their status (and that of other high-end knifemakers, e.g. Busse) may be as difficult to determine as that of the elusive definition of "custom."

I love my AR....brutal, tough, use it like crazy and a few swipes on the sharpmaker and it's wicked shaving sharp.
