Some SYKCO Goodness....

Whew! Just the coating, I thought you may have scuffed it...

actually it looks like you were trying to skin something and it wasn't quite ready to go....

Yes I am not sure how long ago it actually arrived in Aus, a few months ago I would guess, it had just dried hard. :D

I remember it being Very difficult to remove.
I can't remember how I got it off, maybe WD40?

Like Andy said, alcohol (isopropyl, aka rubbing alcohol) will do the trick. Just be sure to add some oil of your choice after, as the naked blade will need some protection.

Maybe I used iso? I don't remember.....
I do remember thinking that it was so difficult, that I'm surprised I didn't Cut myself!
Ha
Curious as to how our upcoming swords will be? :0

elof_alv elof_alv and I under took a "COVID Safe" prisoner exchange during the week...I got my blade and one of his most excellent sheaths all in one go.

Upon arrival with the patterned protectant coating.....

And after some soaking in alcohol and a little rubbing with a soft cloth.....

Really curious to see what you think about this one mate! Seems like a serious contender for the anorexic B4 to me. I'm loving mine!!!

ETA - I just gave my Sage-coated one away with some Danny Bull leather. My best buddy's son just graduated high school, and got his Eagle Scout. He needed a good hunting knife, and I was more than happy to oblige.

ETA2 - Forced patina on mine. Turned out pretty cool! :D

Congrats on the new knife and sheath! Which prisoners did you give up in the exchange?

.... yes this. I actually wrapped the blade in some disposable hand towel and soaked both sides with iopropyl and let it sit about 10mins. It mostly rubbed off then but I did repeat once more to get the last off.

Yes I think it will, I was suppose to be away bush in three weeks but the current 'Rona issues here means I can't....:mad::mad: ....so the soonest I can hope to run it through something is my next available leave in mid-Sept. I can't wait !!!
Go grata on the new knife and sheath! Which prisoners did you give up in the exchange?
....he had this and the sheath he made and I had to surrender his DB-421 and a Scrapper 6 (which I have been caring for now since last year I think).

I have a muzzleloader deer hunt coming, also in mid-Sept. Unless something good happens and I actually go bow hunting the first part of Sept, but I don't currently have any plans to do so.

I used mine to help a buddy process a deer last Nov, and also cleaned 10 small salmon with it. It really impressed me! That's actually how it got that patina! The thinness of the stock and BTE really makes it shine!!!

Nice one mate. Those little SYKCOs are sweet. I have one that now permanently lives in the kitchen.

Work does not ease up for anything as you would imagine. My new (to me ) Landcruiser is soaking up all my spare dollars at the moment, I was suppose to take it for a good run out into the far west for a week this month but then 'Rona. Probably the best isolation I could have but not to be ....

Got a nice patina going on mine from general use...
