These are finally getting done and rolling out of the shop. I used a local guy that wanted to photograph them which is way better than I could ever do. They are 1/4" thick with tapered tangs, and ground in distal taper, except for the Americanized tanto. Black titanium chain-ring bolts. Tan G10 handles. The kydex was done by another local that specializes in holsters. They are cerakoted desert tan.

What are chain ring bolts, how do they work? Can you post a picture of them? Thanks Martin. By the way nice knives how much are they going for are they production!

These are chain ring bolts. I really like them for some knives because you can run a piece of paracord right through the bolt hole like flared tubing but you still have a mechanical screw holding everything together.

I'm selling them for 300.00 these are all stock removal blades from 52100. I want to get a lot of them done and in the store so I can start concentrating on forging blades again.

Those are gorgeous...can extra chain ring bolts be ordered at the same time? One of these is going on my short list.

I have no problem throwing in an extra set for these. Once this batch is gone I will be using the set on the left for now on, because I couldn't find a good counter bore for the first set I got. There pretty short as well. I got the idea from DJ at americankami.com after seeing one of his knives at the USN show here in las vegas.

Chainring bolts are what holds the chainring onto the crank spider- on a bicycle. I don't think some of the newer crank/chainring styles even use them but my old school bikes do.

Do an image search on google for "crankset" and you should get plenty of photos of them.

I don't know if the ones that people are buying for knives are actually made for bicycles or if the bolts are more generic and available for other purposes. The few knives that I have put scales on have used the blind bolts. There is another term for them but I can't remember what it is. If you measure the bolt length sufficiently when you grind your scales you grind off the slots in the bolts but don't grind deep enough to expose the holes, so they look like rivets. Chainring bolts are not intended to be ground, and as mentioned they are hollow so they have a different appearance.

Yeah I used the ones made for bikes before I realized usaknifemakers supply was selling their custom titanium chain ring bolts. I only use theirs now. The hardest part is finding the proper counter bore and pilot.
