I have had a benchmade cqc7 emerson model for many years now and I thought I'd share something about its performance.

I am employed in the diamond tool making industry and I have used this knife for many years at work. It is worn out now, I have ground the blade down many times, changed its profile and kept it sharp... I have used this knife in ways that would make you cringe, as a chisel, screwdriver, deburring tool and even a prybar. I have cut materials ranging from A1 tool steel, rubber, phenolic, G10, copper, cold rolled steel, air hose, water hose, cardboard, various plastics and wood. The blade of ATS-34 is incredibly capable, somewhat brittle but holds an edge considering what I cut... I have to say, based on my experience, this benchmade product is well made and very tough. The G10 and titanium liners have help up very well. I have exposed this knife to various chemicals as well, EDM Oil, gasoline, tapping oil, machine coolant, and acetone. No problem, the G10 is in great shape, the back of the knife is a bit rough, due to using the knife as a chisel, I pounded the back with a hammer, but the plastic back spacer and titanium held up well. An excellent product, I understand that emerson has since started up his own line of knives, which should be excellent for hard working knives as well.

I also have a Benchmade/Emerson CQC7 that I got some time back from a a fellow forum member. It is a great knife, in perfect condition and I find myself carring it more and more.

I really like Emerson knives, their handles are always the most comfortable. However, I like the Benchmade/Emerson even more the liner lock just feels more secure.

I haven't had a recent bm knife to test... I just bought a 690 so I will see, I would imagine that it does...

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the CQC7 Emerson SpecWar put Benchmade on the map in terms of tactical folders.

sounds right to me, I also bought a afck with the original ROUND hole, incidently both knives have titanium liners...excellent knives

The BM CQC7 my favorite knife since they came out, I have carried mine at work every since, I have pried with, stabbed cut stuff that should have never needed to be cut with a knife dropped it down drains, dropped it in oil, had it run over by a car, lost it found it and it still gets carried after all this it has been sharpened so much the front part of the blade is back farther then the serrations are, just a great strong all around knife, I have picked up Emerson's own CQC7's and never thought they felt as well as the BM does.
