I have had a benchmade cqc7 emerson model for many years now and I thought I'd share something about its performance.
I am employed in the diamond tool making industry and I have used this knife for many years at work. It is worn out now, I have ground the blade down many times, changed its profile and kept it sharp... I have used this knife in ways that would make you cringe, as a chisel, screwdriver, deburring tool and even a prybar. I have cut materials ranging from A1 tool steel, rubber, phenolic, G10, copper, cold rolled steel, air hose, water hose, cardboard, various plastics and wood. The blade of ATS-34 is incredibly capable, somewhat brittle but holds an edge considering what I cut... I have to say, based on my experience, this benchmade product is well made and very tough. The G10 and titanium liners have help up very well. I have exposed this knife to various chemicals as well, EDM Oil, gasoline, tapping oil, machine coolant, and acetone. No problem, the G10 is in great shape, the back of the knife is a bit rough, due to using the knife as a chisel, I pounded the back with a hammer, but the plastic back spacer and titanium held up well. An excellent product, I understand that emerson has since started up his own line of knives, which should be excellent for hard working knives as well.
