some thoughts about Ti-salsa and native

First, I've been owning Ti-salsa for a while and there's one thing I feel uncomfortable about this knife: The wire clip looks good but the "L" shaped design makes a big part of the knife staying out of the pocket when clipped. The salsa is a short&wide knife, thus the exposing part catches a lot of eyes in office and I feel worried about it falling out. Is it possible to make it "U" shaped thus allow deep pocket carry?

Second, I always appreciate the slim design of C07 which makes it so comfortable to carry. However, the tip strength is a problem with C07. I think that Native's blade design is perfect for a utility blade. But I admit that I hate FRN (yes, I know it lowers cost and make a s30v blade affordable). I am wondering how much difference it will make on the cost issue, to make a handle in SS or G10 other than FRN. And, is it possible for a limited run of NativeSS with S30v blades?

Check this thread... applies to Salsa as well i think :)

Tip thickness on the Police has been recently improved.

We've had no complaints to date on the strength of the wire clip.

Deep pocket clips is always a question that pops up, but it seems only for a few. One of these days we'll make a deep pocket option for one of the models to test how many really want deep pocket clips when there is a choice.

We do have a few models that have pretty discreet carry, but the carry does not seem to be the reason for puchasing those models.

I agree with both Ireed and Mr. Glesser.

My cranberry Salsa has been noticed far more often than my Vaquero Grande as it carries so high. The wire clip is strong enough for my carrying purposes.

While I'd like to see an aluminum-handled Salsa with a deeper-carry clip and ambidextrous carry, cranberry has been discontinued, so I wouldn't be a buyer.

lreed,
I'm surprised at your comment about the knife being noticed. I've been carrying my Ti for >1 year at my work and not one person has commented or appears to be offended, by seeing it. Now if it was the cranberry that would definitly be more noticiable, but so far mine has been quite nice for office carry. I also like the native design and use it frequently on weekends. Have you checked out some of the discontinued G-10 Natives. The Blue BFC's are harder to locate but the blue and rootbeer inlaid versions are easier to find (JohnFjensen still had the rootbeer last time at his website). These are 440V steel but are great users.

boxer93, actually everybody aggrees it's a cute little knife when I take it out of pocket and open it. However, when carrying a knife, I would rather nobody notice me carrying a knife instead of "Gee, he's carrying a knife" and "oops! the knife he's been carrying turned out to be that small."

Heres you a G10 shell inlay Native.

I would love to have a G-10 native, but it's hard to find.
And I don't like that pearl inlay idea. IMHO, it's slipery, fragile, and ugly.

Can anyone show me a pic about the newest police's tip and possibly a comparision with the older versions?

Since the Salsa (or in this case the Ti-Salsa) has a short blade length I'm not too worried about people noticing it when I'm carrying it.

I wouldn't think it would cost to much to have some one remove the shell and inlay CF,Krayton or G10

Hey Jeff, could you enlarge that picture a little bit more? I can't quite make out the microbes on it! :p

I think Jeff's right about the inlay, Ireed. If you really don't like it, see about getting it taken out and replaced. Or, if it's really fragile (I've read it isn't too fragile), maybe it will fall out on its own and then you can replace it.
