I thought these might interest a few people here. I made these chainmail floggers a while back, and they've been hanging all lonely-like in my closet for a while now. So, I decided to bring them out for some fresh pics. I apologize for the quality of the photos; taking pictures of shiny stuff is a bitch.
This is my Magnum Opus of floggers; all stainless steel. It's 38" long including the wrist strap. The handle is about 13" long, and the falls are about 16". The handle is constructed of a solid half-inch stainless steel rod covered in the classic 4-1 European weave. The six falls are in a variant of the Byzantine pattern, and the strap is in the 4-1 half-Persian pattern. Stress points were reinforced with spring-tempered rings. It tips the scales at two pounds, thirteen ounces.
And some more detailed shots;
This one is more or less the prototype for the one above. Nine falls this time, in galvanized steel. The handle is half-length. I have a special fondness for this one. These are some of the first rings I ever made, and they've been recycled many times before settling into this configuration.
I once sold one that I'd like to make again. It had neoprene falls in a fox tail pattern, and a ball bearing swivel. Sadly, I lost to pics of that one. It was tons of fun. . .
