Some wave better than others?

So, I was bitten by the Emerson bug and have a few now.

It seems to me that some Emersons "wave better" than others. The ETAK B, Patriot and Gentleman Jim seem to wave more consistently and completely... as in all the way open instead of half way ....than a couple of other models.

Is this my imagination and if not, why some better than others?

Thanks,

Slim

Not all waves on all models are the same size. A little adjustment is needed to find the correct deployment angle on the smaller models.

Slim, some do Wave better than others. The models with the thumbhole are even easier with no disc to interfere with the path of the pocket seam.

I've found the roadhouse and the horseman I had to wave the easiest, idk why, the only logic I can come up with is they both have an upswept blade which, when closed, let the wave catch easier.

Maybe it's the way certain people pull it out as to which model waves better too, I've found with the commander I had to use more wrist rather than just an arm pull, or maybe I'm just crazy :D

I have found so far that my newly acquired SOCFK-B comes out of the pocket the best, followed by my Karambits, and lastly the Horseman.

Practice with each knife and they will all wave open just fine, imo.
Agreed, Rolf.
That said, my Journeyman seems to wave best for me -- I can wave it out of my shirt pocket! Next would be my Super Commander. My 7 and 6K open just fine but, admittedly, I am not at 100% yet -- maybe 85% but it just might be the deployment angle that I need to be consistent with.

Thanks guys.
A knife is like an instrument. Ya have to practice to get good.

As an Emerson noobie, I was wondering the same. My Gentleman Jim is blazingly fast and I'm hit or miss the my new 7AW.

The GJim is fast in more ways than one. Speaking of Jim, hey EmersonRep, how's about we start bugging Mr. E for a Super Jim?? I'll take one in SF and one in BTS. Or better yet, make one prototype and send it to me.

I have noticed particular models wave easier, yes. However, I find twisting the spine of the blade towards the outer seam of your pocket while pulling up is extremely consistent. Even when I carry an Emerson in the waistband of my work out shorts, I've noticed it will wave as long as I twist the spine of it towards the exterior, if that makes sense.

Makes sense. ^
And, I wear different pants with different pocket styles. Gotta make adjustments, men.

I concur, ibute21. I also have a slight "twist" going on too. And there are other adjustments to made as well, with varying pocket styles. Practice, practice, practice.
