Sorry I have been so scarce on the forums lately. End of semester for me and I've been running around at work like crazy. Rick called me up up earlier the week and offered the invite to do a quicky overnighter at the local scout camp woods and I managed to get out with him, Normark and his cousin Scott.

We had to earn our keep by playing the firegame to a troop of cubscouts. Still it was fun. Rick's new personal knife is a beaut. Wonder if his old standby blade is going to get jealous. It should, because the younger one has got-it-going-on in the looks department!

The new model seems to keep getting new names. It started as DOD, then was given FUG. I tried to convince him to coin it DOVM....Ah well, Rick shall select the one he wants.

I had a good time. Ken did a friction fire demo for the Scouts. It was really wet out there and we failed a few times before Ken dug deep and saved the day... well, night that is.

Normark was expecting the worst on this overnighter.... he packed to be prepared for anything! (note the military body bag, filled with more of Normark's stuff... lol.)

Ha ha, we were having a bitch of a time getting a coal. Rick and I skunked out on our trials using the wood we collected before dinner and then we tried drying the hearth near the dinner fire hoping that would do the trick. In the end it worked, but it was a hard coal to pump out and of course with thirty eyes anticipating we didn't want to let them down. Thanks for posting the vid Rick and nice pics!
