Well there is yet another new knife company, Vosteed, and one of the founders is Yue, formerly a designer for Kizer.
The Nightshade is based on the Shilin Cutter, a knife occasionally talked about on these forums.
It is a 3.25" flipper in 154CPM with a liner lock. Not too heavy at 4.16 ounces. It does sit wide in the pocket however.
The fit and finish are good, though not to Moki or Golden, CO Spyderco levels. The skeletonized liners are rounded, leaving no sharp edges. One scale on mine was just a hair longer than the liner - literally.
The blade flips open easily - the detent isn't mushy, but not so tight that I have to quick PUSH. At the same time it won't shake open no matter now hard I try to flick it.
As a Shilin Cutter derived design, the blade is at a downward angle. When draw cutting, this functions like a hawk beak, keeping the material gathered below the belly of the blade.

I haven't sharpened it yet, but the blade is not recurved. Holding it on a flat surface, I see that regular whetstones will be enough. It's just that the handle will be held at an odd angle to the stone.

A M390 version is also available for about the same price as the Spyderco Lum. The 154CPM is $69 - $60 less.
