leave well enough alone. Spurned by LVC's SAR5 post http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602471&highlight=sar5+cooler
I grabbed a 12 pack of beer and a pair of goggles and started grinding and sanding until I came up with this...

While at it, I gave her a new hair-splitting convex edge and whipped up a new sheath for her. Hand sanding the micarta until smooth was back breaking and exhausting work. Dehydration is a real danger and i didn't want to take any chances so I was forced to stop every couple of minutes and drink a beer (which is mostly water...).

Her butt isn't as fat now... and I like that. :D
(Shown with Ranger... he's been drinking too...)

Incidentally, I highly recommend the Mighty Arrow. Good pale ale... hoppy... but not IPA crazy hoppy ... Good stuff.

That SAR 5 looks nice, I have been looking at getting one of those.

As for the Mighty Arrow, I really like that brew. Usually all the New Belgium beers taste the same to me, but that Mighty Arrow is really smooth and different. Good choice!

I'd be sorely tempted to cut down my scales, but the only one I have left is the OD/punkin SAR5. I just LOVE the look of the scales on that combo. Can't do it. :(

OTOH, as I've said before, the SAR5 and the Randall 25 are very similar in feel, balance, and weight. I just gotta get over it and use the bad-boy.

The OD/pumpkin SAR5 is one of my favorite... my photography skills pretty much suck... but here is mine. The unfortunate thing about a knife that pretty is that I don't want to beat on her. :)

The G10 is a bit scary, from what I hear, to mess with in regard to the dust getting in your lungs.:barf: Muy malo from what I understand.

What pack is that in your pictures? Oh, nice grind job too!

Thanks, I picked that pack up at a gun show for $30. It's a Condor... most of mine are Maxpedition, but the price was right on that one and the ammo i had just purchased was getting really heavy. ;)
