Someone Found a Use for the Founder's Edition.

BG, That is the only way to get it and thats the first time Buck used that stamping . Making it an interesting model . DM

I suppose he can salvage the scales to use on other knives and sell the tins for whatever he can get for them.

I don't imagine it takes but seconds to polish the stuff off the blade if you have the right equipment.

Smart move and a nice knife for $112, I guess.

I bought 30 of them to use for my stoneworks too. It is a lot of work to buff the etch off some and really easy on others. So, if it doesn't buff off real easy I head to the scotchbrite wheel and in seconds it becomes a satin finish blade with no etch. You can tell by looking at them - if the etch is real faint it goes to the buffer and if it is real dark and clear it goes to the scotchbrite wheel.

I gave most of the tins away and I am using the rest to sort out my stone slabs in.

I bought one of the Founder's 110's for my son, as user eventually. For $20. I couldn't pass that up. Great looking knife.

thx - cpr

Another great use for them is gifts. I bought a total of 18 of them and so far have given five away as gifts. They were very well received by all those I gave them to. Prettier than a standard 110 but inexpensive enough to be a user.

Good for you. Sources like that must be quite a bit better than just buying the basic 110 for at least $10 more.

Especially the Founder's with the polished blade and that distinctive (and undated) tang stamp.

Makes it look a little more unique.

I found several from a supplier that had no etching on the blade but had the same tang stamp several months ago. I bought the last 6 he had. Maybe they had some leftover blades without the etching at the Buck factory?

Here is what this knife looks like with the etched removed with a scotchbrite wheel in less than a minute. The stone is Leopard Skin Jasper from Mexico.
