Was the 184 even made in the early 1970`s when he said he bought them all? Sounds like a scam to me.

It has all the hallmark characteristics of a scam.
I'm having a hard time seeing how this could have been a scam. He wouldn't ship, and wouldn't take a money order or Western Union. You make an offer he likes, meet him, look over the knives, buy them or not.

Yeah, the 184 (first listed as a 181) didn't go into production until late 1984, and the 107 isn't a big knife... confused, yes, a scam, I don't see it.

Armand,

You must be the pushy folks the seller was talking about...LOL. Well if the seller would have sold these for $250 it would have been a real find:thumbup:. However, they said these sold for $750 and that is just what I would value this lot at.

I don't know about Armand but I was definitely one of the pushy ones...

Judging by the "ultimate authority" on knife values, :Debay:D I think these knives would have easily brought $1200-1300 if put on the block. Of course, given that they were in the condition he stated they were.

120 = $75
122 = $200
124 = $150
184 = $250
107 = $75
total $750

That's what I would say they are worth and about what the stuff sells for on ebay. Of course your mileage may vary, and some may go for more, some less. Most folks don't remember when they bought an old knife, 20 + years ago. I have looked at a bunch of 110's on ebay that the seller said were made in the 60's or 70's and the stamps said other wise. Know what you are trying to buy, if it is to good to be true "beware" and Never, I repeat "NEVER" buy anything using Western Union to pay for it. The old timers here know what I'm talking about:(.

Thanks for your estimate of the knives values. Recent sales on ebay, per Terapeak, seem to show something different. Of course, I'm forever the optimist.

Shew wee ! I'm glad I'm not an "Old Timer" as I don't know what the Western Union problem was . DM

DM: assuming that you are serious:

If you just stick cash in an envelope, you will save the Western Union charges. The effect, however, will be the same. You have sent cash to a faceless wonder (and probably a nameless fraud) without a verifiable address who will have your cash and may or may not send you what you have bought.

DM, The problem isn't with Western Union, they provide a useful service at a "reasonable" price. Transferring money from A to B in a matter of minutes The issue arises, as aptly stated by Telechronos and jb, when transferring funds to an unknown person with the expectation of receiving goods in exchange. I think jb assumed I made an offer to purchase the knives under that scenario, hence the: Never, NEVER comment. I didn't, I'm old, an "Old Timer", perhaps, a fool, occasionally.

Still thinking $750 for the lot was a deal, should of upped my ante... Mike
