Someone once warned me "don't get into collecting Case knives, it's addictive". . . .

"How can it be anymore addictive than collecting knives in general?" I asked.
He had a point though.

Just got my 3rd Case Copperlock. Fancy scrolled bolsters and second nail nick, more defined edges with brushed finish blade. Says 033 on blade grind just above the case stamp.
Also recently got a swayback and copperlock yellow cv just before that.
The cheetah had filework done to it and was converted to double action, don't know who did it. Had it for over 2 years.
The other black copperlock is a Sellect series and has factory filework. Lots of scratches and has been in many parts of my collection. Bought it for about 20 over three years ago.
It know resides as a "fancier" EDC.

I thought just a few more Balis and autos would satisfy me for now, little did I know I'd get the traditional/Case bug too.

well first you gotta decide if you want to collect a certain color, pattern or batch of knives. then there are ones that just look good. then old ones in various stages of wear... i was given several case knives as a young child and the curse has stayed with me ever since.

Thats the problem with Case knives. There are a lot of variations... What starts off as buying a couple knives, ends up being a hundred or more.

Nice collection. My problem with Case knives is that they are relatively inexpensive and are widely available. I put much more thought into buying a 100 GEC than I do spending 30-40 on a Case. The problem with that is that I end up buying way more than I should!

My problem is that I drive by Shepherd Hills Cutlery at least once a year. :)

Don't forget, they make fixed-blade knives too.

Addictive?

Case knives addictive?

I just can't believe that. Although once upon a time, long ago, I carried my dad's old peanut and got used to the little bugger. Then I bought one single little yella peanut just for yuks. Then a while later I bought a bone stag peanut for the Sunday go to meeting thing. Then I spied a chestnut bone CV peanut that somehow called to me. Now I'm carrying a amber bone and damascus 'nut that was gifted. But I was in a knife shop in Frederick the other day, and I ended up chicken eying a stag and damascus 'nut. I resisted the urge to coon finger, but the memory is haunting me, and I'm figuring an excuse to go back to that little knife shop again. :p

But addicting? Bah, poppy cock. I can stop anytime I want. Really. I'd try to convince you, but I have to drive to Frederick for something. I'll get back to you later!

Carl.

Addictive? Try living just a little over an hour away from the Case Museum.
I'm trying to resist the call to go back before my next vacation. You see there's this sweet little oak scaled Sway Back Jack calling out to me...

WOW! thanks for the input guys. I feel like an occasional weed smoker complaining about the "munchies" at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. . . ;-P

I've recently decided that I like the stockman pattern. I've picked up three in the last week.

Hey Nostimos, my friend...how about you give us another update ...say in a year, by that time you should be driving in an older car, possibly have sold your house, depending on how understanding your lady is...she may still be with you, but mate....will you have some knives!!! :D
And they think we have the problem...just what is wrong with those people who cant see what we do in knives?:o

oh yea they do have those beautiful case bowies! ive been thinking about getting 2 to use as a wall decoration that can be yanked off the wall in case of (blank)

i was doing good then i saw that greek eye pattern and got caught up in it again.

Just got to maintain....

I've been on a real tradition knife kick recently, but the low price if each individual case knife makes ammasing tons of them without realizing it all to easy

It's getting harder and harder to explain why I "need" as many knives as I have.

But I love them all...... :(

I just bought my third case.
So far I have:
Harvest Orange Humpback Stockman
Barlow in Blue Bone
Yeller Handled CV Trapper

OMG heres the big list of whats to come lol:
Dark Red Bone Peanut CV
Amber Bone Mediam Stockman CV
Chesnut Bone Sway-Back Jack CV
Chesnut Bone Mediam Stockman CV
Probably a trapperlock in SS
As you can see I like CV. haha Those would probably all be users to is whats the sad part.
Heres some I want for collection:
Blue Bone Saddlehorn SS
Einsenhower Genuine Mother of Pearl (super dress-up knife)
-----------------------------------------
I AM QUITE THE DREAMER, AM I NOT?

I seen one dealer had over 1000 different Case knives in stock. Don't forget most patterns come in your choice of either SS or CV blades, so you'll need two of each. After that you can start looking for the discontinued models. :)

Unfortunately, that is not the case with much or most of the current production. However, it is always a pleasant surprise when a (beloved) pattern becomes newly available in CV.

In years past many more patterns were available in carbon steel from Case...but since (according to their data) the CV knives make up such a small percentage of their overall sales, they are not always inclined to add new models as often as we'd like.

Very nice collection, so far. I have been collecting them for about 7 years or so and my collection is about 30 pieces. For me, the best part of collecting Case is the options you have. Their constant rotation keeps it fresh. However, if you see something that you like, you better pick it up. It might not be in production the next time you go looking.
