Hello,

Today was my 20th try to sharpen my Emerson La Griffe the way i want it to be sharpened. Someone please help me, this knife is giving me a headeache. I have no problem sharpening plain or convex blades... i mean i can make them splice hair fibers in two strands... but this convex blade shape/hwackbill or whatever you want to call it is the Devil... after several tries and lots of hours of work on it, it only cuts paper relatively well, but no arm hair shaving, no scary edge, nothing. Please tell me what would be the best way/tool to sharpen such a blade and how?

How have you tried sharpening it so far?
I would try using the stick-type sharpeners.
Mark the bevel with sharpie to see if you're matching the angle properly when sharpening. Look to see that the marker is being rubbed off as you sharpen.
Also sharpen until you can feel the burr on the opposite side (running the whole length of the blade). Then strop.

I don't have any problem matching the angle, and i've already tested this marking the bevel, but i did not try a stick-based sharpener as i don't have one, i tried with the edge of a flat square diamond/ceramic stone, theoretically it should work, and forget the burr theory because i already grinded the blade o the other side to make it from Chisel Grind to double grind blade, first i thought that could be the problem, but now it seems that my only option is a stick sharpener... i'm out of ideas.
