Please sell me your old grinder at a reasonable price. I beg you ! you can't see but I am on my hands and knees.Something 1 1/2 h.p to 2 h.p. with 2" width belts at just about any length. My set up is poor and I end up doing most by hand which takes forever man. Thanks .....RDT

Keep an eye on the boards, I have seen a Grizzly, a Bader BII and a Coote being offered up on here in the last couple of months. It may take a few months, but have the cash ready and you can jump on those good deals when they pop up.

There are probably about 3 or 400 people on this thing that would like to find a good grinder at a cheap price.....including me. It took me two years to find a lathe the size I wanted at a reasonable price....the question is..... how long do you want to wait. In two years you will be an accomplished grinder....... or finally getting one.......go buy a new one tommorrow!

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the advice. I figure I'll just keep posting until someone has one. I almost got the Coote but just missed out....Damn ! either way it's all a matter of cash...unfortunately. Take care.....RDT

Try Tommy McNabb with the Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild. He had a Bader 2 at the meeting this last weekend for 550. Good looking grinder. I'll have to go with Tom Mayo and say just buy one any way you can. It will pay for itself real soon. Mark Hazen

Thank you all so much. I appreciate any info possible, and hey, I'd just outright buy a Bader 3 or maybe a Hardcore if I had the spare $2000. but I am not in the financial place where I can afford that much for anything. I should have done it when I could have afforded it but , now's not the time for me. Thanks again and take care.....RDT

Hey Rdt, Check out my site for a very brief description of how I made mine. I made it for under $100 and it is a pretty good one . Just use a little ingenuity and design something yourself. Cory

Hi Cory,
WOW ! that's awesome. Very nice job on that grinder and thanks for the advice. I have been ooking at some motor's at a local shop and the rices will seriously drop in comparison to buying say a Bader or other big name. Do you have the ability to change to larger say 8 or 10" contact wheels ? Thanks again and take care.....RDT

RDT, since you're short on cash and a contact wheel costs 150-250 dollars, you might want to go with a bench grinder with 10" wheels of different grits. Bout the cheapest way to go and if you make good knives you can sell them and save up for a belt grinder.

RDT , I did not build the grinder for a hollow grind attachment yet. When the time comes It will be a simple addition. Nothing on this grinder was complicated. Only if you thought about it too hard. One of these days I will invest in a DC motor and a variable speed control for it but until then I will use it until the motor shucks. Cory
