Someone talk me out of a Stars/Stripes

I've got my eye on a Stars and Stripes small sebenza, birthed in 2002 or so. It's in mint condition...

I like the use of color, and the knife itself (lockup, pivot) etc. are just fantastic.
The pivot feels much better than my small sebenza 21, smoother perhaps?

But I'm not a huge fan of displaying the American flag. Not like I'm not proud of my country, just seems to me there could be more eye pleasing designs for the cash.

Thoughts?

Stars and Stripes is a classic sebbie, I have heard they are rather hard to find as well. I cant talk you out of this one haha.

I like my sebbenzas plain personally, I owned a classic with Coco Bola inlay for a short time but traded it off because it was too fancy for me...

That being said I would love to have a stars and stripes, it's the only graphic version that appeals to me.

I also prefer my plain sebbie but the Stars and Stripes is defenitely one of the nicest graphics CRK offers. I would say go for it, worst case scenario you find that it isn't for you and you sell it for what you paid.

i have a plain sebenza.

if you like certain parts of the design and not others, get a custom job from them.

I cant talk you out of it either. The Stars & Stripes is very hard to find and I personally like this flag pattern much better than the other flag pattern CRK offered. Looks like your going to be getting this one and carry and display it proudly !!!

if you like the way the pivot feels you could always buy the knife then buy a replacement scale. problem solved :D ;)

I say do it. Whats a thread with out a pic.

No. As you can see, I am upset I sold mine, and I am on the lookout for another.

So how much do you guys think a 2002 Stars & Stripes is worth, given it is basically brand new, never sharpened or carried? Polished blade.

Priceless:D, Basically whatever you are willing to pay.

...Basically whatever you are willing to pay.

+1:thumbup: Unless it's a screaming good deal, don't buy it trying to make $$. Buy it because you want it and decide for yourself what you will pay for it. Or just walk away......

Yeah I love the feel of this knife, but I prefer the stonewashed blade and I'm not crazy about the flag, although I do like the way the colors of the flag look.

The angle of the graphic on the scale is nice, visually. It's somehow sort of dynamic, rather than static, maybe. Not sure - nicely done, if you want a graphic.

For a Seb that vintage and style, you're probably safe buying it if the deal is fair. There is typically a pretty decent aftermarket demand for that type of knife. If you decide not to keep it you should generally break even on a resale. However, your tone really indicates that you'd prefer a small plain "Regular" version. If that is where your heart is, hold onto your money until one pops up for sale. It will eventually.

Not sure if the deal is fair or not. Asking price is $385, small, polished blade.

Decide on what you really want and buy it. For me, the Stars and Stripes was a "must buy" for me. I got the Large Regular. The deal is below MSRP. Mine was just a little above that price. I'm VERY VERY happy with mine.

I've had a Lg. Stars and Stripes before... along with a few other decorated and inlaid ones. My taste is in minimalism, so the plain ones always appealed to me more. However, if I were to plunk down the $$$, I would choose an inlay over any of the CGG Sebenzas. If there have been any/many that caught my eye it would be the newest batch of CGGs.
