Was talking to a friend a while back who wanted to see pics of black lip pearl traditionals. I gathered up a few that were handy. Feel free to add some of your own.

Although not the most rugged handle material, the stuff can be colorful.

Starting top left - Ryuichi Kawamura, Mike Alsdorf,
Joel Chamblin,
Joel Chamblin, Jack Davenport

Those are awful fancy for an old Goat rancher Gus :D. They really do have some incredible color. I've never seen one in person, but am guessing the colors really come to life with different lighting.

They are all nice, but the Chamblin knife on the left in the third row, that has the federal shield, is beyond words

Those are all jaw droppers Gus! Nice!

Those are so nice Gus. Some real 3D depth to that pearl.

Those are incredibly classy looking.

gus that bunch of knives need not take a backseat in any arena. that shakes it for me --if i buy custom might as well go to 1st class.thanks

Gus,

Stunning, beautiful, gorgeous.....The Ryu is doing it for me in a special way! With the depth that pearl shows in a picture I can only imagine how it must look in person.

Hi Bastid -

Amazing stuff there!

The Kawamura looks as if it has black opal scales!

Thanks for the picture.

best regards -

Really rich looking handles, on nice cutlery!
Treasure for sure, Gus!

Nice selection Gus. I really like those pearl Alsdorf interframe slipjoints .
I admire the makers who checker ,carve & flute the pearl. To me,that is amazing.
Very beautiful knives,Thanks for showing them

Dude! Something about the shape of that Alsdorf and Davenport that really appeals to me. Got any pics of them open? All of them are exceptional! I have always wanted to collect MOP or Abalone or any of the natural "pearl" knives, but other expenses always come up...damn responsibility...

I sure admire anybody that can make pearl look that good on a knife. Peining pins in that stuff is about a 9.5 on the Sphinter Scale.
