Something a little different for me....

I had a repeat customer request a knife for his father-in-law for Christmas. He said his FIL really liked the Buck Model 119, and he asked if I could use that as a basis for my design. Here's what I came up with:

1/4" CPM154
Partial flat grind around 1-1/4" tall with a 1-1/2" blade width
Satin machine finish on bevels
5-1/2" cutting edge
11-1/2" OAL
Swedged clip
Customer requested cattle brand on reverse side (happens to be really similar to my maker's mark)
Black linen micarta scales with red vulcanized spacers
Corby bolts + Acraglas
Tapered tang

The balance is 1/2 a finger forward of where the index finger groove is.

This knife is fairly different from my typical work, but I enjoyed making it, and it turned out alright, I think. This is my first tapered tang (I really need to get a flat disc). There is still a bit of clean up work needed before delivery, and I'm going to make a kydex sheath. Thanks for looking!

Nope, not what I'm used to seeing from you, but done very well, nonetheless. Nice lines, nice finish, what's not to like?

Great job!

Sweet Nathan! I like everything about this knife, and it's great to see you trying some new things too.

Well done, sir.

Thanks, everyone. I just got back from Dallas, and I have to run out to the shop and make a kydex sheath for this one and do some finishing work on it to deliver tomorrow. I appreciate the comments. This one is definitely a handful of knife, and it should make a great general purpose camp/field knife.

that is really a great looking knife. The liners really pop. I would be proud to give that knife to my dad, that is for sure (probably would have to keep that one for my self, though, because although the old man appreciates fine guns, he really is not much of a knife person).
