Okay. You've seen a Primos hunter before. You've also seen them in Damascus, and with ivory or bone handles. *Yawn*

So what's different about it?

:( Still can't carry it in Seattle, Terry...

But that is one sweet 'little' piece... and I think I could get away with it on a neck chain! :D Or a keyfob for Sunday goin'-ta-meeting type events!

Nice change of pace, too?

lol

That totally had me fooled! I saw it and was like "hmm, I bet the blade's a 6 incher"

Great work! :D

Geez......

Really got me fooled ! Excellent little knife you got there. I love it !

Wow! You got me too. I would've never guessed it was that small. Too many miniatures lose the precision we're used to seeing in a larger scale. This one doesn't. I've never been a big fan of miniatures but I have to appreciate the craftsmanship here.

By the way, did you feel compelled to do this right after you completed my big fighter? What are you trying to tell me, Terry?

Nope, didn't fool ol' Mike - knew it as soon as I looked at it
.......Naaaah, ya got me :D Outstanding piece Terry -- Bodice knife, maybe ;)

Hey joeshredd - what's the deal with Seattle? I'm going there for Christmas, probably better get myself informed on the rules -- Thanks,

Mike

You don't often see a miniature that is so well done that it looks exactly like a larger knife, just to a smaller scale. Very well done Terry, very well indeed.

Many thanks guys.

Wulf,
No, actually I'd probably rather work on the big honking knives than the miniatures. This is only about the third one I've done in 10 years. It's way too tedious when you are using tools made for big knives and are trying to scale everything down and keep the proper proportions.

For example, imagine holding about a 3/4" square by 3/8" thick piece of billet, with tongs and forging a blade to shape from it with a 2 pound 8 ounce hammer. (This was a little end piece of a billet that I started to throw away). Slotting and fitting a guard that is only about 1/8" wide was a real exercise in patience and humility as well.

By the way, I've received numerous emails about the availability and price of this miniature, or one like it. I really appreciate the interest, but I wasn't trying to sell it (which would be taboo here anyway), and I don't take orders for them.

Here's the story. I initially was making this little thing to donate to the ABS for auction at the Hammer-in last weekend in Old Washington, Arkansas. My younger daughter (20 years old) went nuts over the thing and insisted that this should be hers. When her boyfriend came by a couple of days before the Hammer-in she went as far as to go grab the thing off my dresser and tell him, "Look what dad made for me", then cut her eyes over my way with one of the looks that said, "Gotcha"!

Well, any of you that have daughters know how it goes. And I had been promising her a damascus knife of some sort, so you can figure out where the miniature went. Of course now I've been given the task of either making a fancy little display stand, or a miniature sheath for thing. :(
