I am known as he guy in my circle of people that always has a few few knives.

I actually have a safe full, but that's another story.

I am always picking up small to medium knives, especially neckers or smaller fixers.

I give them as gifts alot. The joy, surprise and sheer shock received is more than worth it. Some have never even been much into them, I give them a small Boker and then they are hooked.

I give almost any newly enlisted young man (and woman) that I encounter or friends with my sons. I make them promise to come back safe and share stories of what that lade has seen and where it's been.

Giving is great. Giving knives is Grand.

Anyone else?

Unfortuantly I haven't had good experience giving away knives, every person I give a knife to ends up mad at me for one reason or another, or I barely (sometimes never) talk to them again. I trump it all up to that old legend that says something like "never gift a knife.....it will sever the relationship.....unless they give a coin in return" in short I have a lot of spare change :)

I'm like you, I gift knives all the time, most recently to a couple of friends of my that were just married, I do regret this because I miss those knives lol...

I have family in the police department out here, my closest cousin is an FTO, so when ever I know that he's bringing a rookie around I make sure to have a SpyderCo Police to give to them. Most of these guys have some sort of knife on them, most of the time it's something cheap, and it's always appreciated. And usually followed by "this won't get you out of a speeding ticket" and hearty laughter.

I'd do the same with our military, but with the volume that's here, I'd be broke in an hour lol... I do when I have the chance, buy them a beer or a shot, doubled up if they just got back from an "active area".

When I have moved on the newer and better quality knives, I end up with quite a few $15-$25 knives laying around. I don't resell them cause it ain't worth much. Shipping cost & etc...not much if I were to sell them.

So I do give them away...one time I gave one to my gardener & his son both Kershaw compound & asset.....man their eye glows & love it. Priceless...

Lol it's gotten to the point that people just expect knives from me as gifts. Just got my girl a kershaw knockout and for my dad's bday got him a kershaw composite leek and a carbon fiber indian ford.

In my efforts to find the elusive perfect knife, I've ended up with really quite a few knives in the $10-40 range. I'm not a collector, and the resale value of cheaper knives is low enough for me not to bother. As such, I've ended up arming half of the people I work with. Also, last christmas, I gave my family a set - everyone got a knife, a sharpening kit, tuf-glide, and a torx tool set. Everything they need to maintain their knives. My dad, who never previously saw the need for a knife other than his swiss army knife's slipjoint, now understands why I always have one (or two) locking folder(s) on me.

Heck, my mom even keeps the one I got her tucked into a purse pocket.

Every now and then just not to my friends..........my god they'd be missing finger (limbs to) if they got there hands on a sharp knife........sigh it's a sad state of affairs.

I've given out a couple folders here and there as gifts. I need to do it more often, i really enjoy seeing the reactions and looks on someones face when they open them up.

I have no friends but do gift them any opportunity I get to family. My nephews and nieces think I am "the cool uncle".

Just gave this one to my goddaughter for her 9th birthday. Many are destined to be my sons.
