I'm a huge tactical knife fan but I spend alot of time outdoors whittling, hiking, fishing etc. with my boy.
I stopped in an old general store today between a few jobs I was doing and saw about 25 or so Case knives.
Green jigged bone, yellow bone, Copperlocks, Jacks, Doctors, Wharnecliff blades, Canoes.. memories of my Grandfather and the Uncle Henry he gave me when I was eight years old.
Now I have a dilemma, As much as I love my Benchmades and Spyderco's..

Nothing says EDC like a beautifully executed traditional folder.

We understand. But who said you have to choose? There's no rule saying that you have to carry either a slipjoint or a modern folder. More often than not I have both on or near me.

I saw what I think was a green bone large copperlock single blade jack with "case" spelled out on the side, maybe about 4" closed.

It was like porn.

I can't get that knife out of my head.

That's a sure sign of what the next step should be: Take the knife "out of your head", buy it, and put it in your pocket! :D

Possible side effects may include: Heart palpitations, shortness of breath, a general sense of euphoria, possibly feeling like an eight year old kid again, and an inability to remove that $h*t eating grin off your face!

I usually carry both or slipjoint if I have to. My current rotation for modern folder is:
Spyderco UKPK orange
Spyderco Urban Foliage Green
Benchmade Osborne 940

and I combine one of them with:
Northfield 250109 Burnt Stag
Queen Small Dan Burke Barlow
Vic Alox Soldier
Shcrade USA 34OT
Parker-Frost Trapper

If I would need to choose one for dedicate EDC its probably Queen small Dan Burke Barlow. There's really something about slippies indeed.

I found it on image search.

"Silver script green bone trapperlock"

Then I just saw the swayback jack.

I'm screwed.

I don't have one yet but the Swayback is the one that hooked me. It is, in my opinion, the classiest looking knife made.

Two nice ones to start with, B . . . but they won't be the last! :D

I'm gonna buy them from the general store though.

It's called "Terni's" in Millerton NY.

The guy that runs it is third or fourth generation, It was supposedly a pub before prohibition.

I actually watched an old guy dressed to the nines on a weekday go in and order an "egg creme".

I have no idea what that is but my mother in law said she used to drink them.

That, my friend, was one of the favorite drinks of kids (and adults) in NYC back when I was growing up in the fifties and sixties. I'm sure there are still a few places that make 'em today. Haven't had one myself in many years.

Welcome to...and enjoy the dilemma!:cool:

Exactly, and they tend to draw less negative attention, so I tend to carry a slippie and a modern. I have to admit I wasnt too keen on the swaybacks at first, but the more I look at em, the more it grows on me. You will have to let us know what you end up picking up. :D

Slippies is that what you call those things that I'm so weak at saying No too! :D Enjoy the sickness. I also carry a traditional and a "modern folder" on me when I'm not working. At work only a tiny slippie. Anywhoo welcome and enjoy your stay.

I carry a Puma or Schrade Walden stockman and I back it up with a Lone Wolf T2 for big cutting jobs. These are my edc do everything knives. The truth is that the stockman does 90% of all the tasks I need on a daily basis.
But the combo of the classic and modern for edc just cannot be beaten.

So go and get that Case and enjoy it in your pocket right next to the titanium and Carbon Fibre.......:)
