Something bright on a foggy afternoon

I received dense fog advisory weather alert on my phone earlier this afternoon, and thought someone had made a mistake. Sure, it was a bit overcast, but clear visibility as I drove to the office to get a few tasks done I could not from home. When I came out to get in my car I could not believe how foggy it had become!

So, when I got home I decided to snap a few shots of the brightest knife I own, my marigold bone Colonial, among the fog-shrouded trees.

Oops, I forgot to turn off the flash.

Had to swap batteries, and guess what? Yep, I forgot to turn off the flash again.

Doug, I always enjoy seeing your pictures as well as a great collection of knives. Foggy here as well along with high winds and 15 to 20 below temps due tonight.

Needles to say---I'M STAYIN INDOORS:D

Have a good weekend my friend!!!

Nice! We've had some serious fog here in NE Florida this week also.

Took this shot 2 days ago...

Well Paul, I guess I shouldn't tell you it's going to be 71 here tomorrow. Hope you have a good weekend too, friend.

It was 71 here today too. Might portend for some rough weather when that cold front meets up with it. Rain all day yesterday and more expected tomorrow and Sunday. I wound up carrying my Kershaw "Needs Work" just in case and my Bulldog canoe for my traditional.

This is an older picture. It had just come back to me after being loaned to C. Baughs for a while and he sent the Henckels whittler back with it.

Nice photos Doug. What kind of camera are you using? The cheap little one I have does not do close ups that well. Or maybe I have to learn photography as well as this computer stuff! But, there's nothing like a yella handle on a foggy day.

Carl.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Carl, the camera is one my wife's parents bought for my son when he went to Europe back in the summer of 2008. It is a Canon PowerShot A720 IS, 8.0 megapixel. One of these days I will get a digital SLR, and learn some photo skills.

Something BRIGHT indeed! You wouldn't lose that baby to easy. Nice pics, Thanks

Dave

Nice pics Doug. I've always liked the diffuse light that fog or an overcast will bring. Sort of evens out the details, and less gets lost in the dark shadows brought by harsher, brighter light. No glare, either. It works very well for photography, so far as I'm concerned.

(Sunny days are great too, for my own rejuvenation... ;))

I really like this photo the way the light runs along that neat re-handle job, in conjunction with the trees in the background-looks very cool Doug

Nice shots Doug! I have a Canon Powershot too, the A710 7.1 megapixel. 6X Zoom. I love it. I've had it for about 4 or 5 years. I've posted thousands of pics on BladeForums using it. They are great outdoor knife cameras and shoot very nice high resolution pictures. While it appears some pictures are "close ups", the effect is often accomplished not by zooming in with the camera, but more using a program like Microsoft Office Picture Manager. It has the ability to crop away unwanted edges and actually zoom in on the knife, or even a tang stamp. By comparison, they are not expensive cameras either.
