This "Prototype Bolo" was intended to become a special Busse run. It was instead replaced by the Aftershock. Note the handles - a forerunner to today's snakeskin micarta. Cool grind, plus an INFI (marked blade) that was specially sharpened on a Japanese water wheel to surgical specifications.

Knife is similar in size to the Battle Mistress at nearly 15 inches long, but its 1/4 inch thickness is perfectly balanced between handle and blade and by far the sharpest knife I have ever handled. It is a quintessential fighter and a piece of Busse history !

pic of the gorgeous edge on this knife. Its geometry might not be ideal for chopping, but it is a better slicer than knives far thinner. It is truly a work of art.

I was right when Mr. Busse posted that code.

I said a 15" bolo would be one of the possible models.

Oh, my love:D:cool::D

Marc, is the top edge hollow ground and unsharpened?
It looks just like the one Andy Prisco pulled from the Blade Show lineup a couple years ago.

(Luckily, I had a chance to handle the Blade Show model for a couple weeks and have to say that it is one of the sweetest handling blades I've ever used at this size:cool:.)

Uhhhhh, know anyone interested in selling it Marc???;):p;)

Strabs, this may be the same blade. The knife blade is quarter inch stock, but it was skinned down from thicker stock which is what is between the handle slabs (closer to 5/16"). Jerry did alot of work to get the balance right. Like you said - for a knife this size the balance and speed is phenomenal !

After you saw the knife it was sent to a company that specialized in sharpening surgical knives and samurai swords. The edge will shave hair on your arm by just putting it in the same vicinity! It is scary sharp and easily rivals the sharpest custom folders in my collection - which says alot given the thinness of those blades!

As for being for sale - museum pieces are not for sale ! :D

That's gotta be her:D:D:D

Do me a favor and spank her for me Marc, the last time I saw her she was on her back begging for more up in northern Minnesota;):p;)

It took over an hour to get all the freakin pitch off before I shipped it back (...I should've told Andy it fell out of the canoe to the bottom of a lake instead:p)

If you ever get tired of her you've got my number;)

Awsome blade!! Seems like there are a lot of these "one-off" knives around for the lucky few. Must be nice to be in the right place at the right time AND have the bucks in hand! Jealous? Oh yeah! Envious, too! That edge is no doubt wicked sharp---I have one very similar to it on #86 Mr. Mojo, from the factory---all you have to do is wave it at a hair and the hair dies of fright!:)
