The customer suggested this idea and I was very keen to see how it would look. The 8-1/2inch blade is forged 1095 based on a Musso Bowie shape and a "low" quench line. My usual clay-backed hardening. The hamon and jihada has some nice activity that changes from hamon to spine but it can't be shown in the photos. 416SS oval guard. The handle is Tasmanian Oak under that wrap. The menuki is a samurai horseman in cast steel which I salvaged from an ornamental sword (wall-hanger, can't cut). From the inset in the 2nd pic, you can see the handle is a pretty decent man-sized grip !

What do you guys think ? Thanks for looking. Jason.

WOW Jason! That is probably your most impressive piece to date. I think it is absolutely wonderful. To say I'm in lust is an understatement! Email incoming.

The bowie has an air of the inscrutable East about it. The handle is eye-catching. The blade is hardcore bowie.

It is outstanding.

I forgot to add, I'm with blademan -- I . . . must . . .have . . . . one . . .:D

While my taste in bowies runs along more traditional lines, I have to say I think this is a pretty cool knife. I like the generous size of the handle - it looks like it will provide a comfortable and secure grip. And there's no doubting that the crisp clip-point blade profile and cool hamon are right on the money. Yep, very cool indeed.

good Lord man! That is sweet!

I agree, probably the nicest bowie you have done that I have seen to date...

Keep up the great work mate.

3 Eeks from me!

Very nice! If I remember correctly, Jim Crowell made a similar bowie a while back. I remember it being very different, and very awesome as well.

Jason... That is one of the finest of your bowie patterns I think I've seen! And I do like the way the wrap sets it off, and still would appear to be totally functional...
Have you tried chopping with it?

I think I want one. You're one of the real shining stars here Jason, I hope to see one of your knives in person someday.

I want one. Pretty please! That is one of the coolest if not the coolest Bowie I've ever seen. I'm in love. Is it wrong to covet thy neighbors Bowie?

That's a zombie whacker for sure! I love that oversized handle. My kind of knife. Would you consider making another?

You're getting close to the legth of blade that I really like. Add another inch or so and it will be right on.

Bt the way, nice knife.

I took it in when you said that a few threads ago. Consider it a work in progress ... thats one reason my "Bowies" are getting a bit bigger... ;)

My little forge is struggling to give consistent results on blades bigger than 9inches and thicker than 1/4inch stock. Hey, good excuse to build a new forge. LIke yourself, I think a good Bowie needs to be at the 9-11inch mark depending on the man behind the blade. Anything smaller is just a big utility knife !! :D If I may say so myself.

My own 8inch Bowie also has a wrapped handle and the extra girth on the handle helps make it more comfortable when chopping. BUT, make no mistake, while this type of grip is the absolute BEST for a secure grip, it can become a "sore point" pardon the pun, with prolonged use. Consider this an artisticfirst and foremost, and to keep a very good customer gentleman happy.

PS>- Has anyone seen the latest Tactical KNives with the Shiva Ki knives. Something similar there too.

Jason.
