Here is a recent one from Don Hanson....different shape compared to many of his blades, but still with the recognizable style and killer handle material :D

I think of this as a "pirate bowie" - but I'm sure someone can come up with a better name

top edge is as sharp as the main edge, and I'm thinking this will definitely be an entry in this years "Best Bowie" thread !

Yes, very different blade profile for Don and definitely a looker.
Congrats Bill on a fine new piece.

nailed it!
especially enjoy the integrated handle spacer/frame. Friggin cool beans.

Blade is 8 inches, and knife is 13 inches overall.

Don,

Thank YOU!

Bill, I hope to hang out with you a little more next year. I like talking knives with you.

A guy's custom knives say a lot about him.

That is one great looking knife and certainly a wonderful acquisition. Certainly a nice new concept done by Don whose work all of us enjoy viewing so congrats to both maker and collector for a great new piece.

Thanks for the opportunity, Bill!

I was particularly drawn to the flowing 'streaming fluids' steel pattern.

There is a LOT of cutting edge there. Watch it!

A lesson from professor Dan on how to make a killer "simple" bowie. Of course what I mean by simple is not a lot of adornments. Great materials of course but the shape, profile and grind is what takes it home, for me anyway.

Oh man, is this different. So cool.
I see double ground confederate Bowie blade shape all over this.
As Coop mentioned, the damascus is striking.

Congrats Bill and Don.
Great piece.

Pirate Bowie sounds fine to me, Bill. :D

thanks for the comments guys !

I was lucky enough to check in with Don right as he happened to be finishing this baby, and I could not resist :D

Coop did his usual excellent job with the montage - he is right, the Damascus is very cool close up
