A few months ago I had a fellow contact me that is in the US Coast Guard, and he wanted me to build him a boat knife that he could use on the deck of a cutter boat on the Hudson River in New York. He gave me his materials request, size, and price range, and specified a black rawhide sheath that was right to left crossdraw. The rest he left up to me, and this is what I came up with.
The knife is 7 1/4"OAL, full tang stainless raindrop damascus forged by Chad Nichols, handle scales are black linen micarta that Michael Burch assisted with the waffle texture(he did most of it
), lined with red fiber, stainless thong tube ,nickle silver pins, and a center mosaic pin, and a paracord lanyard with a pewter skull bead.
As mentioned the shaeth is veg-tan covered in black rawhide, and just for the hell of it I put black deerskin fringe and another skull bead at the tip of the sheath.
