I wasn't familiar with this type of knife when a customer friend of mine asked me to make him one many months ago. After looking at many examples on the web, I came up with my own version. The blade is 5 1/2", O1 steel. The handle is ebony and the overall length is 10 3/8". Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!:)

Except for scale- you've captured the "classic" look.

That is a beauty! - but I can't imagine carrying it in my sock.:D;)

I didn't realize until after the knife was done that it is traditionally carried in the socks:o

WOW! Thats gorgeous!! Its ginormous!

What are the fittings made from?

Thanks guys for the comments. I guess this one is too big to be a traditional sgian dubh. Maybe just "sgian dubh style" dirk. I'm going to make a smaller one for my customer so I guess I will probably have to put this one up for sale.

very cool take on the Sgian Dubh Ray. I like the plate on the butt, looks like that knife could deal out some serious work.

Hell, I would get some super socks and carry it!
Very nice work Ray!
Perhaps kydex socks?
