... when you look at the price of a plain jane small sebenza ($350) and think "wow, that's pretty cheap!"

I don't buy many expensive knives at all (my small bocote and large micarta 21s are my most expensive knives), but my frame of reference has apparently changed over the past two years.

Quality is alway inexpensive. Cheap is expensive as you have to keep buying what ever it is over and over again. It is funny how our minds work.

i can remember feeling the same way back when. I carried a buck 110. I went to a kershaw 1050 and it was like $100. I was like OMG, a $100 folder. Now when I see a sebenza, even older ones going up for $500-$600, I am like.....That's a steal......lol

It's all relative. One my my other hobbies is collecting watches. I've yet to see a knife that wasn't cheap in comparison to a vintage Rolex Sea Dweller.

It's weird how our minds develop over time, I personally have no use for a 200+ blade unless it's a custom for my heavy use.
My ESEEs and Beckers do more than enough for that but I remember when I was younger and I bought my first 'expensive knife'.
It's a SOG Trident TiNi Tanto that I still carry after all these years.
Now I look at Brous and Falkniven like damn those aren't too bad of prices haha.
I wish Emersons were still as cheep as they use to be.

I want to agree. But how many people have an old buck 110 going strong for a decade or more?

Granted I have my Grandfather's but he rarely ever used and when he did it was for gutting fish or cutting fishing line.

Nothing heavy use on the blade, not trying to bash buck I love my old 110 too.

I recently purchased a small 21 (my first CRK) at $350.00, I got this with the intention that If I totally get out of knives, never buy another one, only have one pocket knife left, that this would satisfy my needs for the rest of my life.......alright, this and my BM 940.
