Hello!

Here's something I just finished for a friend in San Diego..

This is a Cut and Thrust sword. 32" pattern welded blade in my "Hugs and Kisses" pattern welded from 1060 and L-6 steels. The guard is forged from 1 piece of barstock using my own proptiatary technique, it and the "fishtail" pommel are both Nitre blued..

The grip is a bronze chevron pattern wire wrap with a German silver spacer wire.. OAL is 40 1/4" ish....This one goes "home" tomorrow...so I figured I should share this one...

Not too bad for an old fart working outta his backyard...

That's a work of art, would love to see you forging that gaurd out though, looks like it'd take some complicated smithing to do from a single bar. Great looking sword.

Wow, that is just simply amazing. I also would love to see you forging the guard.

Didn't take long to figure out who NVHammerHead once I saw that sword! I recall picking up one of your pieces at a show in Santa Clara almost 20 years ago, I had already read one of your books by then and that day I suddenly realized I was standing before the author. Your work is still distinctive to me after all that time. It is good to know your hammer is still knockin'!

Mr. Hrisoulas, your works are always an inspiration to me. This one is no exception. I can't even imagine how you forged that guard out. I will be thinking about it though...

thanks so much for sharing this with us.

Mr. Hrisoulas,
Having taught myself by reading your Complete Bladesmith book, it is great to see your current work. Very nice!

Howdy:

The guard is not all that hard to do.....and I sorta stretched the truth a bit..the pas d'arms ring up by the ricasso is a seperate piece but the rest of the basket is one chunk of iron. If you look close you can see what I did..I could be talked into doing a walk through and once you see how it's done..well you'll just slap yourself...

Takes like 10 minutes to do the forging..Clean up is a PITA and that takes about an hour..Flex shaft machines really are a handy little googaw to have around..
