Something in carbon fiber...

I'm looking for something with solid carbon fiber scales (no bolsters like the LCC), medium size, and good steel. So far I'm looking at the larger SOG Jetedge. Some of the Klotzli Walker designs look nice but they are more than I want to spend right now. Any suggestions?

Jeff - how about the new CRKT M16 in solid carbon fiber? It shares the same dimensions as the regular large M16 - 4" double ground tanto blade w/ flipper, around 9" OAL. The carbon fiber is a bit different from the one on the Jet edge. CRKT uses slightly textured carbon fiber so it isn't slick like all the other CF handled folders out there now. IIRC it retails around $150, but you can get it less than that going through the net dealers.

I also like CF scales
Currently I have a CRKT M16-11F (spearpoint)
On my "buy" list are the
CRKT M16-14 Tanto
and
The William Henry Lancet. One thing about the William Henry line is that only the Carbon Fiber Scaled knifes have a clip on the knife, otherwise you get a pouch with clip.

Hmmmmm  Maybe I'll have to look into the SOG Those Swiss knifes are big bucks.

slicer,

Definitely check out the M16F series from CRKT! I just bought a M16-14F (tanto with the flipper) and I can tell you that it has greatly surpassed my very anal-retentive expectations. I paid under 100 bucks on the net. Email me for details if interested. BTW, I tend to break locks quick. The CRKT has held up admirably well, without a hint of loosening. Nice knife!

BWAHAHAHA!! Ain't that the truth. Any knife/lock that holds up to Chris' "magic touch" will be definitely be a solid one

To this day I am STILL baffled on how he induced play in a ti integral lock folder

:D

Benchmade's 770 isn't medium--it's a smallish knife with a 3" blade--but it's very good in its own way. Solid CF scales with great ergonomics for such a small knife, 154CM steel, and an Axis lock.

Look at the Buck Odyssey 182. Carbon-fiber scales,ats-34, 3 1/8" blade, oval thumb-hole that works very well, combo-edge only, well made liner-lock, screw constuction, comfortable handle. The 182 was recently discontinued but should still be available. I have the similar Odyssey 181 and it's a very good knife. I'm thinking of buying a 182, also.
