Hey guys,

I can't believe it but I happened to email the right person at the right time and was told they had a brand new sebenza 25 in stock and I ordered it faster than anything I've done in my life. I just got into crk knives a few weeks ago and after getting a small and large 21, I knew I had to get the 25. I've been reading on the forum here how much people love their 25's and how amazing they are.

I live in Indiana and it's been raining like crazy here and on Sunday night my basement flooded with about 10 inches of water. It ruined so much of my stuff including a bed, couches, tv, dvd's, speakers, etc.... THEN I found out that my large sebenza 21 I had ordered may have gotten lost by ups. Well, today I found out that my large sebenza 21 I ordered was found and is on it's way and I ordered a 25 so this is the perfect end to a horrible week.

Don't get me wrong, this basement flooding has put some things into perspective for me. I realized how good I have it and how we should not put so much stock into material things. I thought to myself what it would be like to be someone who lost everything, including their homes like the people involved with Katrina and I realized that I didn't have it bad at all. We should feel lucky that we are able to have things like multiple $400 knives. It's also nice to have the support of an awesome knife community.

Congrats - you're gonna love it! Mine is awesome. I can't wait until inlays & damascus blades come out on the 25...

I'm in Indiana too - it's raining cats & dogs here now. Good luck with the flood cleanup - that sucks!

Thanks man! Yeah the 25 is just....words cannot describe. I love it this much and I haven't even held one yet. I love that is represents a hybrid between the zaan and 21, taking the best from both. That cool you live in Indiana. You know of any good knife stores in this state? haha There is not a single one in Indianapolis and even the gun shops and outdoor stores don't carry hardly anything worth buying. You know of any decent place?

Congrats on your scores and sorry to hear about your basement. I have to ask, though, are the 25s that tough to find?

They are because they are new. The production model was released in December I believe so only 1 or 2 batches have been released at this point. Also, when a batch is released, knives shops sell out in hours and minutes sometimes. Once a couple more batches get sent out and enthusiasts get their fix they will become more readily available. I'm sure it was the same when the 21 was released.

Hm... I'd seen several for sale, but went back to check and it appears you are correct. All but perhaps one were sold. That is unless you're interested in the $2500 prototype ;)

Congrats, agree with the above...you'll love it. You're in for a treat when you unbox!

Pretty much impossible to find at the moment. It will take a few months until the back orders are fulfilled ... I heard this from the source as I want one.

I feel for you, I got hit by the same storm:eek: The 25 was used a few times to cut up a couch and carpet, then I broke it down last night for the first cleaning and had it back together in 6 min. Gotta love how CRK's almost put themselves back:thumbup:

Sorry to hear of the basement flooding. It is tough being in Indiana and trying to get a feel for knife that you have never seen in person. The only thing you can really do is buy it and hope for the best. That is one reason I offered to show you my 25, hands on. Glad you found one instock though.

Yeah man, thanks again for offering to let me handle your 25. It was funny, I was messaging you to see when you wanted to meet up and after emailing this guy about when he would get more 25's in stock, at that moment I got his reply sayin he had 1 new 25 in stock and I just jumped on it. Thanks again though. I'm sure we'll meet in the future to do some trades or something.

I wish I knew of a few decent shops around here. There's on in Louisville, they look like they have a really good selection of quality blades (and lots of CRK in stock), but I've never been there. Maybe one of these days! Every other place is mostly the same imported steel you can find at any wal-mart. If I ever come across a hidden jewel, I'll pass it on!

Do they make a large and small 25 or just
The one size ?

As of now, CRK is only producing the large 25. It has been said that the 21 will eventually be phased out over the next few years allowing the 25 to take the main stage. So as time goes on, CRK will eventually start producing large AND small 25's including inlayed and graphic versions with different blade shapes but yeah, as of now CRK only produces the one large 25 model. It is in my opinion, there is a market for both the 21 and the 25. Some people (myself included) absolutely love the bushing system CRK is famous for but some people prefer the traditional pivot system that the 25 boasts. But, it would make sense to go with the 25 for a couple of reasons. First, it would be difficult for CRK to produce both models because they would have to produce large and small 21 and 25's with inlays, graphics, different blade types which would make the time to produce both much longer than if they were producing just one. Second, I've read A LOT of feedback from the 25 and it really seems to combine the best features of the Umnumzaan which people are just madly in love with and the best features of the 21. In just about every single review I've watched or read about the 25, the general consensus seems to be that the 25 is Chris's masterpiece.

Something else of interest is the fact that the Sebenza 21 has gone from a hard use knife to a medium use knife over the last few years. Mind that this opinion of change has been made with using the exact same model of knife, the sebenza 21. I believe that most CRK fans would agree that the 21 is a hard use knife, maybe not, because I cannot obviously speak for everyone but considering the materials and build quality, it doesn't get much better than the 21. With this said though, the 25 boasts a thicker blade stock, bigger pivot, and over all, it's just a stouter knife. So for people who think that the 21 is in fact a "medium" use knife which in my opinion is just not the case, the 25 is the answer to any concerns that someone might have that the 21 is not up to the cutting tasks they could throw at it. For someone like me who thinks of the 21 as a hard use knife, this makes me think of the 25 as a super duty knife.

It's funny because like most who purchase their first CRK, my first was a small 21. When I got it, it was exactly what I expected as far as size. I am one of the pickiest people on the earth and I could not find a single flaw in it. After playing with and falling in love with my small 21 and just had to order a large 21. When I received it, I could not believe how big it when compared to my expectations. This was a good thing though. You get so much blade and titanium, it's so so great. Not to mention the fact that for people who do a a lot food prep, the large 21 is great because the blade is long enough so that you do not get juice and food gunk in your pivot. My point being is that after using and putting the large 21 through it's paces, I have come to the conclusion that the large 21 is in fact a hard use knife. So, if the 25 with it's thicker blade, bigger pivot, and overall stouter build, this would lead me to assume that the 25 is in fact an extremely hard use knife that will be up to any cutting task. Suffice to say, I am really looking forward to receiving my 25 on wednesday. After a couple weeks of break in, I'm going to take it apart to put some new lube in and I am going to make a 25 take down video with some close up HD shots of the internals of the knife.

Agreed, I use my CRK's pretty hard and never felt like they're lacking. I kinda hate folder's that are stupid thick behind the edge, I like my knives to cut well, not pry well. I'm looking forward to your vid on the 25.

Man you got lucky finding one!!! I tried for 3 days and nothing! I got in on a preorder and ordered a large 21 to tie me over though. ;) it will be here tomorrow!!!
