Something is fishy

I was using my Sebenza to clean some fish tonight (what a joy to use BTW) and got it fouled up with fish blood, innards, etc. I washed it off with some dishwashing liquid and hot water, wiped it dry, and blew out the remaining water I couldn't get with the towel.

It has been about 3 hours since I cleaned the fish, and my Sebi smells like fish. Please refrain from all "smells like fish..." jokes.

Don't ask me why I was smelling it, but seriously, it is pretty smelly.

I would appreciate any suggestions on getting the odor out!

I have been fishy many, many times. Usually by choice. Lemon juice is great for getting it off of your hands but I do not know if it's acidic nature will be harmful to any of the finishes on your Sebenza.

Perhaps a good soaking in a reasonably strong solution of HOT water and Dawn (or equiv.) would help. Disassembling the knife and using an old toothbrush on everything wouldn'y hurt either. Oh yeah, forgot, it's a Sebenza - better make it a new toothbrush.

Hey BH, take it apart and clean it! That's one of the great things about the Sebe!

If you're not sure about doing it, go to the search feature and pull up some of the threads on disassembly. Great info!

If you haven't dis- and re-assembled yours, yet, you'll find you'll like it even more after you do.

Be sure to lubricate the knife before you re-assemble it - if you have washed it down with detergent, you will have removed all the lubrication in the pivot area!

Mrs. Reeve,
Thank you for your response! You and your husband must be very busy, and to hear from you is greatly appreciated.

I have been using Brownell's stainless steel lube from a local gunshop, and it seems to do the job. When I put in an order to CRK, I'll pick up the lube you offer.

Nothing sand i mean nothing cleans fish smell off of anything like toothpaste -
Cut it with warm water 2/1` and wash blade . The dead bacteria that does not wash off soap and water comes clean with t/paste -
