Today I got a call at work from Kerrie Kengor, The outside sales rep for Crucible. After a little chit chat, I asked if there was anything new in the met-lab.She said she had heard talk of them fiddling with 125V , but there was a hardness issue they were trying to adjust. She is going to find out what is up.One guess is that they are doing to 125V what they did to 154CM. With a little change it may be easier to grind and polish.I'll let you know what I hear. I volunteered to test it if they get it into trial production!

She also said that they would not be offering CPM154 in bar stock for at least a couple of years. If you want it in a particular width, just have the sheet sheared to that width.

interesting i get my cpm154 by th sheet anyhow but the s125v is getting a little rework
i ll have to get the bit i have used so i can see what a pita it is (and see if it gets better)
any other word i ll try to ask my rep when i put in an order

I just ordered a bunch of CPM 154CM in 5/32 x 1 & 5/32 x 1-1/2 precision ground stock from Crucible . The rep didn't mention that it would be sheared from plate , I guess I just assumed it would be barstock

All of the CPM154CM I have bought has been sheared to width, if you look at the edges, they have a fractured look from being sheared and a sort of sharp bottom corners. They keep their shears sharp and set right though because I have not had any twist or bow to deal with.
