That is one kickass pair. I like the handles and guards especially; the big one looks like it has great hand retention, and I like the barong style blade.
The small one looks very useful, and has a great handle as well.
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! I really like that wide blade with a nice belly to it. The sheath sounds very interesting, I look forward to seeing that as well. You did a great job on these two.

Matt,
That's a great looking pair, especially the big one. Couple of quick questions:
1. What is the stock thickness on these guys (1/8", 3/16", etc) and are they full flat ground to the spine?
2. On the big one, is the transition from the top of the handle to the spine smooth & linear or does the spine rise up from the line of the handle top? In the pic it looks like the spine "bellies" upward from the handle with the tip of the blade being about in line with the top of the handle.

Again, nice knives, -- Greg --

The Bolo does Swell slightly at the guard to give more weight at the "Belly " The Bolo was forged from 1/4 thick 5160 stock for a distal taper current thickness is a bit over 1/16 at tip but the rest cleaned up to 150 thousand or 5 /32 thick after the forging scale was removed . the small knife is stock removed from 3 /16 thick steel which finishes out at 150 thousand 5 /32 thick as well . they are both flat ground to just before the spine , the bolo is ground to 50 thousand's before sharpening , the utility knife is ground to 20 thousand before sharpening which i think would help to " Feild Sharpen" if needed . hope this help's :)
