I was putting new sheets on my bed and forgot that my mini commander was on top. I shook the sheet out and sent my knife flying into the wall. Now I'm not sure if this was a prior problem or not but, when I shake the knife side to side it has a rattle somewhere around the pivot point. It only occurs when the knife is in the close position. Have you guys noticed this with any of your emersons or do I have a problem? I have tried tightening the pivot screw and it doesn't seem to have any effect.

sounds like the blade is hitting the liners. i had this same problem with my persian, and cranking down on the pivot screw seemed to help. i would make sure you don't have any crud stuck in there and maybe try the pivot screw again.

Yes. But mine was the blade stop pin. Then it stopped doing it. Go fig. I'd ask Emerson for advice.

I just took mine apart and there was nothing I could see. After putting it back together, I shook it again and squeezed it in various places. From what I can see I think it may very well be the blade stop pin moving around a bit. Everything else is tight. Since the blade stop is just resting in there I'm guessing this is the cause. Maybe mine will fix itself too.

Nearly all my Emersons rattle when the blade is in the half way open/closed position and it is indeed the stop pin. If you put some sort of spacer material in the scale where the stop pin is mounted it will sort it out.

I dont see how it rattles only in the closed position as the blade should sit on the "stop pin" when close and open ?
