Don't borrow much stuff and the BK2 isn't that new, but you have to have some kind of title for these things...

Lee Enfield MkV Jungle Carbine (this is a real one, not a chopped down MkIV) - in 303 British caliber, of course.

BK2 and some cheap blue rope I make leashes for my lab with - he thinks it's funny to bite them in half, so I get 50' of this for $3 at Wally and just tie off a new one every month or so.

Nice rifle! I've always wanted to pick up one of those Lee Enfields. IIRC they were like $100 a couple years ago. Now they are around $300.
 
Very nice. I love the old rifles, especially the military surplus that were most likely in combat. I just sold off my last one, which was a 1903a3 turned into an a4 replica. Lots of character. And its just so cool holding something that participated in the greatest war of all time. Also, it's amazing comparing the weight of the 1903's and garands to a modern day m4 or m16. That garand is a real man's gun.
 
This one my great uncle took in as a trade at his gas station. Then it went to my dad around 40 years ago. He coated it in some thick, sticky tung oil. I removed all that, buffed out the metal to remove some surface rust and redid the wood with boiled linseed oil.

Balistically, the 303 is close to 308. This shoots a 180gr round nose and will work for deer. 10rd magazine that is meant to be fed with stripper clips. If you have never worked the bolt on an Enfield, check one out - this is a beat up old gun and is waaay slicker and faster than my Ruger Mk77 or Rem 700. Maybe the fastest bolt action out there. As a side note, these do not have a 'wandering zero' - that was a fib the Brits made up so they could get semi-autos. The sling is not at all historically accurate and I need to find a bayonet, but the version for the JC is pretty rare / expensive.
 
Nice Jungle Carbine! .303 is a great caliber. I have a #1, #4, and a 5 like yours, but with a little more wear on the furniture.
